The Tineco Floor ONE i5 Stretch is a wet-dry floor cleaner that vacuums and mops in a single pass. It is built for floors with mixed messes, from crumbs and hair to sticky spills, and its handle lies flat so the head can reach under furniture. Here is how its main features work and who it suits.

How a wet-dry floor cleaner works

Wet-dry cleaners combine a vacuum with a motorised roller brush and two water tanks. Clean water, usually with a cleaning solution, is fed to the roller as it spins, and suction pulls the dirty water and debris off the floor into a separate dirty water tank. Because it picks up and washes at the same time, there is no need to vacuum first and mop afterwards. The i5 Stretch has 20 kPa of suction, which Tineco says removes debris, stains and hair as it goes.

A roller that rinses itself as it mops

While it mops, the i5 Stretch keeps spraying clean water onto the roller brush and scrapes the dirt off it in real time. The roller keeps working with clean water instead of spreading dirty water around, which is the main weakness of a traditional mop and bucket. Tineco lists the roller speed as 450 r/min.

The anti-tangle design takes care of hair: it is hooked off the roller and pulled into the dirty water tank instead of wrapping around the brush. That matters in homes with pets or long hair, where tangles on a roller are otherwise a regular chore.

A lay-flat handle for low furniture

The handle reclines a full 180 degrees, and laid flat the cleaner is just 5.1 inches (about 13 cm) high. That lets the head reach under beds, sofas and other low furniture with at least that much clearance, where dust tends to collect out of sight. Measure the gap under your own furniture to see where it will fit.

Cleaning along both edges

The i5 Stretch cleans along baseboards on both the left and the right side, fitting close against the wall either way. In practice, that means you can run along a wall in either direction without turning the head around to reach the edge.

Runtime, self-cleaning and upkeep

Tineco lists up to 30 minutes of runtime. As with most battery-powered cleaners, "up to" is the best case, and more demanding settings typically shorten it. After use, one press starts the self-cleaning cycle. Tineco advises cleaning the filter and the HEPA filter once a month to keep it working steadily. General good practice for wet-dry cleaners is also to empty the dirty water tank after each session and let the roller dry, which helps prevent odours.

Who it suits

It suits homes with pets and mixed messes, where floors need vacuuming and mopping together, and anyone who wants to reach under low furniture without moving it.

What to check before you buy

  • Your floors: wet-dry cleaners are generally designed for sealed hard floors; check the manual for any floor types to avoid.
  • Clearance: the head needs at least 5.1 inches (13 cm) of space to reach under furniture.
  • Runtime: up to 30 minutes per charge; compare it with the floor area you clean at once.
  • Upkeep: monthly filter cleaning, plus emptying the dirty water tank after each use.
  • Space for the dock: it stands about 44 inches (112 cm) tall on an 11 x 11 inch footprint and weighs 9.9 lb (4.5 kg).
  • In the box: a charging dock, a dry filter, cleaning solution and a cleaning tool.
