The Kismile AeroLucen AF9310 is a 5-quart air fryer built around a clear glass basket, so you can see your food brown without stopping the cooking to check. It is rated at 1550 watts, needs no preheating and offers eight functions in a body under 10 inches tall. Here is what its features mean for everyday cooking.

Why a glass basket

Most air fryers hide the food in an opaque drawer, and the usual way to check progress is to pull the basket out. Here the basket is borosilicate glass, the type of glass commonly used for ovenware because it copes well with changes in temperature. You can watch the colour of fries or chicken through the side and stop when they look right.

Kismile says the food-contacting glass barrel is PFAS-free and BPA-free, with no PFAS-based nonstick coating. According to the product images, the crisper plate is also made without a PFAS-based nonstick coating. Glass is heavier than a coated metal basket, so expect it to feel more substantial in the hand.

No preheating and 1550 watts

The air fryer needs no preheating, and Kismile says half a pound (about 225 g) of frozen pre-fried fries can be ready in as little as eight minutes. Cooking times always depend on the food, the amount and how crisp you like it, so treat that figure as a guide. A power draw of 1550 watts is typical for a compact air fryer and suits a standard household outlet.

Eight functions from 90 to 450°F

The functions are air fry, roast, broil, frozen, reheat, bake, proof and warm. The range runs from 90 to 450°F (roughly 32 to 232°C). The low end is meant for proofing dough, which needs gentle warmth to rise, and for keeping food warm. The high end handles roasting, broiling and crisping.

The Dynamic Speed Ring

A colour-changing ring on the top panel shows the cooking status. It has four ring colours plus a central DYNAMIC indicator, so you can tell which mode is running at a glance. According to the product images, the fan is driven by a variable-speed DC motor, and the speed changes with the mode: about 1,000 rpm for proofing and up to about 3,300 rpm for reheating. Slower air suits delicate jobs like rising dough, while faster air helps crisp the surface.

Size, the lid and cleanup

The 5-quart capacity is designed for one to three people. The unit stands only 9.6 inches (about 24 cm) tall, with a footprint of roughly 13 by 10 inches, and its low profile makes it easier to put away in a cabinet once it is unplugged and fully cooled.

An included lid turns the glass bowl into a container for leftovers in the fridge. Kismile says the lid is for storage only: take it off before cooking, and let the bowl cool before refrigerating. According to the product images, the glass basket and crisper plate are dishwasher safe, but dishwasher use may damage the lid.

Who it suits

It suits singles, couples and small households who cook quick snacks, sides and everyday meals, and anyone who likes to keep an eye on browning. The short height also helps in kitchens with little counter or cupboard space.

What to check before you buy

  • Capacity: 5 quarts suits one to three people; larger families may need to cook in batches.
  • Space: measure the spot where it will sit, allowing room around it for air to flow.
  • Handling: a glass basket is heavier than a metal one, so check that suits you.
  • Cleaning: plan to wash the lid by hand.
  • Functions: check that the eight modes cover the way you cook.
