The EUHOMY IM-02-S1 is a stainless steel ice maker that can stand alone or sit under a counter. EUHOMY rates it at 150 lbs of ice per 24 hours, with a bin that holds 33 lbs. It is aimed at anyone who regularly runs out of ice, from busy households to small bars and cafés.
What 150 lbs a day and 33 lbs of storage mean
The two numbers describe different things. The 150 lbs figure is how much ice the machine can produce over a full day of continuous running, under the conditions the brand tests in. The 33 lbs figure is how much the bin holds at one time. Once the bin is full, the machine pauses, and it starts again as ice is used. EUHOMY says an automatic overflow prevention feature stops the cubes spilling over.
In practice, daily output usually depends on room temperature and incoming water temperature, so a warm room typically means less ice than the headline figure.
Home or commercial use
EUHOMY says the machine carries ETL certification and is approved for commercial use, and describes it as suitable for a home kitchen, an outdoor kitchen, a restaurant, a bar, a hotel or a supermarket. Certification marks like this generally indicate the product was tested against a recognised safety standard. As always, follow the manual and local codes for installation.
Control panel and cube size
An LCD panel shows the temperature of the surrounding environment, which matters because ambient heat affects how efficiently the machine makes ice. You can change the size of the cubes by changing the ice-making time. A clean button starts an automatic cleaning cycle.
Water supply, drainage and first use
This is not a machine you simply fill from a jug. EUHOMY states that it needs a water supply and a drain that works by gravity, so the drain pipe must sit lower than the machine's drain outlet. The pipe can be cut to length to suit your setup. The brand suggests draining the water tank once a day by pulling out the small hose on the right side of the tank.
Before the first batch, EUHOMY says to keep the machine upright for at least 24 hours. It then recommends holding the "Timer Clean" button for more than five seconds to enter the cleaning program and running it twice.
Noise and upkeep
EUHOMY describes the compressor as efficient and relatively quiet. Any compressor-based ice maker will make some noise, so it is worth thinking about where the machine will sit. Regular cleaning, as often as your use calls for, is recommended by the brand to keep it running well.
What to check before you buy
- Measure the space. The machine is listed at 15.9 in x 17.5 in x 31.3 in (about 40 x 44 x 80 cm), and you will need clearance for ventilation as the manual describes.
- Confirm you have a water supply and a lower drain point for gravity drainage.
- Check that the power outlet and location suit the machine, and read the manual for installation requirements.
- Think about noise if it will sit in a living space.
- Be ready to drain and clean it regularly.
- Compare your daily ice needs with the 33 lb bin as well as the 150 lb daily output figure.
