The Dreo DR-HSH010 is a 1500W oil filled radiator for heating a bedroom, home office or living room. It has a digital thermostat, a remote control and a 24-hour timer, and it's on wheels so it can move between rooms.
How an oil filled radiator works
Inside the radiator, an element heats a sealed reservoir of oil, and the oil warms the metal fins, which release heat into the room. These radiators typically warm up more slowly than fan heaters but keep releasing heat for a while after the element switches off, and they run without a fan. Dreo describes the heater as quiet and says its seven fins spread heat in all directions.
Power settings and eco mode
You can choose 600W, 900W or 1500W. Lower settings suit small rooms or maintaining a temperature once the room has warmed up, and 1500W is for faster heat-up. In eco mode, you set a target temperature and a sensor cycles the heater to hold it. Dreo says this keeps warmth steady and avoids swings in temperature.
Controls
A large LED display and a touch panel sit on the unit, and a remote control comes with it. A 24-hour timer lets you set the heater to come on before you return. Mute and screen-off modes are included, which can be useful in a bedroom, and a child lock stops the controls being changed by accident.
Safety features
Dreo lists triple overheat protection, fire-resistant materials, tilt (tip-over) protection and a plug designed to resist burning, and says the heater is ETL listed. Even with these, every space heater needs sensible use: keep it clear of curtains, bedding and furniture, don't cover it, and plug it directly into a wall outlet rather than an extension lead, unless the manual allows it. Follow the manual and local codes.
Size and moving it
The heater measures about 12.8 x 9.9 x 26.1 inches (32.5 x 25 x 66 cm) and weighs 17.6 lb (about 8 kg). Large wheels and handles are provided for moving it from room to room.
Who it suits
It suits people who want quiet heat in a bedroom or office, those who prefer a thermostat and a timer, and households that move one heater around. A single 1500W unit heats a medium room well in general, but very large or draughty spaces need more.
What to check before you buy
- Room size: compare the 1500W output to the space; poorly insulated rooms heat more slowly.
- Circuit: 1500W draws a lot; avoid sharing the circuit with other high-power devices.
- Placement: you need clear space around the unit and a wall outlet within cord reach.
- Floor: check that the wheels suit your flooring.
- Warm-up time: radiators take a while to reach full heat.
- Assembly: see what the box includes and how the wheels attach.
