The COSORI CP267-FD is a countertop food dehydrator with six stainless steel trays, a glass door and a digital control panel. Dehydrators dry food slowly with warm moving air, which is how jerky, dried fruit, herbs and homemade pet treats are made. This model is built for people who want to dry a family-sized batch in one go.
How the drying works
COSORI says the unit draws 600W at 120V and circulates hot air with a rear fan. A rear fan pushes air across each tray horizontally, which in general dries trays more evenly than a design where heat only rises from the bottom. The temperature can be set from 95°F to 165°F (about 35°C to 73°C), with COSORI quoting accuracy down to the degree.
Different foods generally suit different temperatures. Herbs and delicate items are usually dried at the low end, while meat jerky is normally dried at the top of the range. Check a reliable recipe or the included cookbook for food-specific guidance and safe handling.
Capacity and trays
There are six trays, each 13 x 12 inches, giving about 6.5 square feet of drying area. COSORI says the maximum load is 7.57 lb of raw beef. The trays are food-grade stainless steel, and COSORI says they are dishwasher-safe on the top rack, to be removed before the drying cycle. Stainless steel trays generally resist staining and odours better than many plastic ones.
What is in the box
The package lists six trays, one mesh screen, one fruit roll sheet, a user manual and a 50-recipe cookbook. The mesh screen is useful for small items such as herbs or berries that would otherwise fall through, and the fruit roll sheet is for puréed fruit leather. COSORI also names replacement accessories (C267-2MS, C267-2FR and C267-2ST).
Controls, timer and safety features
The touch-control LED panel sets a timer from 30 minutes to 48 hours. Long timers matter because jerky and thick fruit slices can take many hours. The unit also has a memory function, automatic shutoff when the timer ends and overheat protection that activates if the dehydrator overheats.
Noise and the glass door
COSORI rates the noise at below 48 dB, quiet enough that the dehydrator can run overnight in many homes. The glass door lets you check progress without opening it and letting warm air escape.
Size
The dehydrator measures about 17.9 x 13.5 x 12.2 inches and weighs 18.1 lb, so it needs a permanent spot on a counter or sturdy shelf.
What to check before you buy
- Counter space and a nearby outlet; the voltage is 120V, listed for the USA and Canada only.
- Whether six trays are enough for your usual batches.
- The airflow clearance the manual asks for around the unit.
- Whether you will dry meat, and if so, follow food-safety guidance for temperatures and storage.
- Whether you want spare mesh screens or fruit roll sheets.
