The besrey 5-in-1 Toddler Tricycle is a ride-on for children aged one to three that changes form as the child grows. A parent can push and steer it at first, then remove the handle and let the child pedal or scoot alone. It is aimed at families who want one ride-on to cover several stages instead of buying a new one every few months.
The five modes explained
besrey describes five modes: folding mode, balance bike mode, sliding mode, push tricycle mode and tricycle mode. In push mode, an adult steers with the handle while the child sits back and rides along. In tricycle mode, the child pedals. In balance bike and sliding modes, the pedals come off and the child pushes along with their feet, which is a common way for young children to practise balance before moving to a pedal bike.
Convertible designs like this usually trade a little simplicity for flexibility, so it is worth reading the manual to see which parts go where in each mode.
The parent steering handle
The removable handlebar lets a parent guide direction while the child is still too small to steer. besrey says it adjusts to four heights, up to 40.15 inches (about 102 cm), to suit most adults. A taller setting generally means less stooping on longer walks. Because the handle detaches, it can come off once the child is ready to steer on their own.
Canopy and backrest
A detachable canopy is included. According to besrey, it is made from breathable, waterproof fabric and is meant to give some cover from wind, sun and rain. The brand describes it as light and easy to fit. A canopy like this is typically a shade and weather cover for the seat area, not a replacement for sensible sun habits or supervision.
The backrest is also detachable. Younger toddlers who still need support at the back can use it, and it can be removed for older children who sit up well on their own.
Seat, pedals and growth
The seat has four adjustment levels and slides forward and backward, so the position can be changed as legs get longer. The pedals are detachable too, which is what makes the balance and sliding modes possible. Being able to adjust the seat is one of the more useful features on any ride-on for this age, since fit changes quickly between one and three years old.
Frame, wheels and folding
The frame is aluminium alloy, and the wheels are PU and EVA, which besrey describes as wear-resistant and suited to a range of surfaces. In general, foam-type wheels are quieter than hard plastic and don't need inflating. A one-hand fold is listed, which helps with storage in a hallway or car boot. The product weighs 13.7 lb (about 6.2 kg), so it is easy to lift when folded.
What to check before you buy
- Your child's age and size: the brand lists ages 1 to 3, so check the weight and height limits in the manual.
- Where you will ride: smooth paths suit small wheels best; check the manual for recommended surfaces.
- Storage and transport: confirm the folded size fits your car boot or cupboard.
- Assembly: check what is in the box and what tools are needed.
- Supervision and gear: follow the manual's guidance on adult supervision and protective equipment.
- Support: besrey lists a 24-month after-sales policy; check the terms where you live.
