The Arboleaf AB201-W is a Bluetooth bathroom scale that reports more than weight. Using electrodes in the platform and a handheld grip, it estimates body composition figures and syncs them to a phone app so you can follow changes over time. Here is what the features mean and what to check before choosing a scale like this.
Eight electrodes and 26 metrics
Body composition scales send a very small electrical signal through the body and measure how much it is resisted, a method called bioelectrical impedance. The result feeds estimates such as body fat percentage, muscle mass and water. Arboleaf lists 26 metrics, including weight, BMI, body fat, visceral fat, muscle mass, bone mass, water and BMR (basal metabolic rate).
Many scales use four electrodes in the feet. The AB201-W adds handheld electrodes, giving eight in total. Arboleaf says this lets it measure the arms, legs and torso separately and is more accurate than a four-electrode design. As with all such scales, the figures are estimates and are best used to follow trends under similar conditions, not as clinical measurements.
Platform and display
The platform is tempered glass, 12.2 x 12.2 inches (about 31 x 31 cm), with a tip-resistant design. An LED display rotates through seven key metrics so you can read results without opening the app. The scale weighs 5.0 lb (about 2.3 kg).
App and syncing
The scale syncs automatically over Bluetooth with the Arboleaf app, which builds weekly, monthly and yearly charts. Arboleaf says the app connects to Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit. You can switch units between lb, kg, st and st:lb in the app.
Profiles and daily use
Up to eight profiles are supported, with automatic recognition and a guest mode, so a household can share one scale. Arboleaf describes the setup as: open the app, connect to the scale, then enter body parameters such as height and age. For daily use, you step on the scale, return the handle after measuring, and the full results, including body fat, appear on the screen without needing your phone.
Precautions
Arboleaf says that people with a pacemaker or who are pregnant should avoid using the body fat function of the scale. Follow the manual and, if in doubt, ask your doctor about whether this kind of scale is suitable for you.
Who it suits
It suits households that want to track weight and body composition trends in one place, people who already use a health app, and anyone who prefers a large, clear platform. If you only want a plain weight reading, a basic scale is simpler.
What to check before you buy
- Phone compatibility: confirm the app supports your phone and the health platform you use.
- Precautions: read the usage warnings above and in the manual.
- Placement: use it on a hard, flat floor, as scales typically read less consistently on carpet.
- Consistency: measure at a similar time of day and under similar conditions for comparable readings.
- Power: check the battery type and how replacement works.
- Support and returns: note the brand's support and warranty terms.
