The WOLFBOX MV10A, also called the MegaVolt10 Air, is a portable 12V jump starter with a built-in air compressor. It covers two common roadside problems, a flat battery and a soft tire, in one compact unit, and it also works as a flashlight and a small power bank. Here's what its numbers mean.

Peak current, battery size and engine size

Jump starters are usually described by peak current, the largest burst the pack can deliver for a moment. WOLFBOX lists up to 2000A for the MV10A. The current an engine actually draws while cranking is lower, and it depends on engine size, temperature and the battery's condition.

WOLFBOX rates it for gasoline engines up to 5 litres and diesel engines up to 3 litres. Diesels generally need more cranking power than gasoline engines of the same size, which is why their limit is lower.

The battery holds 37 watt-hours, roughly 10,000mAh at the typical lithium-ion cell voltage of about 3.7 volts. Starting an engine takes a short, strong burst rather than a lot of stored energy, which is how WOLFBOX can quote up to 30 jump starts from one full charge.

Boost mode for very low batteries

Many jump starters only send power to the clamps once they detect a battery, as a safeguard. When a battery's voltage is very low, the pack may not detect it. For that case, the MV10A has a boost mode: attach the clamps, press and hold the boost button, then start the vehicle. Follow the manual's steps exactly when using it, along with your vehicle's own jump-starting guidance.

A 150 PSI tire inflator with auto stop

The compressor reaches up to 150 PSI (about 10.3 bar). It reads tire pressure in real time and stops automatically at the pressure you set, so you don't have to keep an eye on a gauge. There are five inflation modes, for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, balls and a custom setting, and the display shows pressure in four units: PSI, bar, kPa and kg/cm². Three nozzles come in the box.

Car tires need far less than 150 PSI. The right pressure for your vehicle is usually printed on a placard inside the driver's door and in the owner's manual, and readings are most accurate when the tires are cold. Small portable compressors usually have a limit on how long they can run continuously, so check the manual before topping up several tires in a row.

Display, flashlight and power bank

The LED display shows the battery level, the input and output status and the tire pressure. A 200-lumen LED flashlight has high beam, strobe and SOS modes for roadside emergencies at night.

As a power bank, the MV10A has a 15W USB-C input for recharging the unit and a 12W USB-A output for phones and other small devices. A carry bag is included.

Temperature range and warranty

WOLFBOX lists a working range of -4°F to 140°F (about -20°C to 60°C). Lithium batteries generally deliver less power in deep cold, so keeping the pack fully charged helps in winter. It comes with a 24-month warranty, and it's compact enough for a car trunk or a travel bag.

Who it suits

It suits drivers of 12V cars and light trucks within the engine limits above, and anyone who wants a jump starter and a tire inflator in one unit for the trunk or road trips.

What to check before you buy

  • Your engine: a 12V system, within WOLFBOX's 5-litre gasoline or 3-litre diesel guidance.
  • Charging: what USB-C charger the manual recommends, and whether one is included.
  • Tire pressures: the recommended figures for each vehicle or bike you'll inflate.
  • Keeping it ready: top it up regularly, and check the manual's storage guidance if it lives in a vehicle through hot summers or cold winters.
  • Instructions: read the jump-start and boost steps before you need them.

  • A 150 PSI tire inflator that stops at the set pressure, with five modes and four units.
  • A 200-lumen flashlight with high beam, strobe and SOS; 15W USB-C in and 12W USB-A out.
