The Acmount W160 is a portable jump starter that also works as a tire inflator, work light and power bank. It's meant to live in a car boot or garage, ready for a flat battery or a soft tire. This page explains what the listed figures mean and what to check before buying one.

What 3000A means for jump-starting

A jump starter stores energy in its own battery and delivers a burst of current to start an engine with a flat battery. Acmount quotes 3000A, which is a peak figure; the sustained current is lower, and what matters in practice is that the unit matches the engine size. Acmount says the W160 suits 12-volt vehicles with gasoline engines up to 9.0 litres and diesels up to 8.0 litres, and that a single charge can provide up to 60 jump starts.

It's rated for temperatures from -4°F to 140°F (about -20°C to 60°C). The brand also says the unit holds its charge for about 24 months on standby. In general, lithium jump packs lose charge slowly, but it's sensible to top them up now and then, as the manual advises.

The built-in air compressor

The tire inflator is rated to 150 PSI and uses a preset-pressure approach: you set the target, and the compressor shuts off when it's reached. Acmount says it can raise a car tire from 29 to 36 PSI in about one minute. Four nozzles come in the box, along with a detachable extension hose, so the same unit can inflate car tires, bicycle tires, balls and similar items. The display can switch between three pressure units, such as PSI, bar and kPa.

Compressors in portable units are small, so inflating large tires from empty will take longer than topping up. Check the duty-cycle guidance in the manual so the unit isn't run too long without a rest.

Display, light and safety features

An LCD screen shows battery level, the inflation mode and real-time tire pressure. Acmount lists ten built-in protection features against faults such as short circuits and sparks. As with any jump starter, connect the clamps in the order the manual shows, and don't skip the polarity checks.

The 300-lumen LED light is said to last up to 48 hours and includes an SOS mode for emergencies. A USB output turns the unit into a power bank for phones and other electronics.

What's in the box

The listing includes the jump starter with air compressor, a smart jumper cable, an air pump hose, four gas nozzles, a USB-C charging cable, a manual and an EVA carry case. Acmount also lists a two-year warranty and ongoing technical support.

Size

It measures about 5.0 x 9.0 x 4.0 inches (roughly 13 x 23 x 10 cm), so it fits in a glovebox-sized space or under a seat with room to spare.

Who it suits

It suits drivers who want a single compact unit for roadside emergencies, covering a flat battery and low tires, plus a light for night-time problems. It also suits households with several cars, motorcycles or bicycles, since the compressor isn't tied to one vehicle type.

What to check before you buy

  • Engine size and voltage: confirm that your vehicle is 12V and that its engine is within the listed gasoline and diesel limits.
  • Charge state: charge it fully before first use, and plan to top it up periodically.
  • Pressure needs: confirm the maximum pressure your tires need, including any spare or trailer tires.
  • Cold and heat: keep it within the temperature range, and avoid leaving it in a hot parked car for extended periods.
  • Cable length: check that the clamp cables reach the battery terminals on your vehicle.
  • Manual: read the connection steps and warnings before you need it in an emergency.
