The VEVOR ZX0901-3C is a hydraulic scissor lift for motorcycles, ATVs and similar powersports vehicles. It raises a bike to a comfortable working height so that chain care, tyre changes, oil changes and cleaning don't mean crouching on a garage floor. Here is what its specifications mean and what to think about before using one.
What the 1,500 lb capacity means
VEVOR rates the lift at 1,500 lb (about 0.7 tonnes) and says it was load-tested. That figure is the maximum the lift is designed to hold, so it should be compared with the weight of your own machine plus anything attached to it. Most standard motorcycles, cruisers and touring bikes weigh well under that, which leaves a margin. VEVOR lists it for motorcycles, touring bikes, cruisers, ATVs and UTVs.
How the hydraulic lift works
A scissor lift raises its platform by closing the angle of crossed steel arms, and a hydraulic pump supplies the force. Here the pump is worked by a foot pedal, and a long handle is used to position and move the unit. Hydraulic systems multiply force, which is why a modest amount of effort at the pedal can raise a heavy machine.
The listed lifting range runs from 4.7 inches (about 12 cm) at its lowest to 15 inches (about 38 cm) at full height. The low starting height matters: a platform that sits only 4.7 inches off the floor can slide under many bikes with low-slung exhausts or fairings.
Securing the load
The platform has a non-slip rubber strip, and VEVOR includes two ratchet belts to hold the vehicle in place. A 3-position safety pin locks the lift at the chosen height, so the load is held mechanically rather than by hydraulic pressure alone. As with any lifting equipment, use the lock, strap the bike down before raising it, and follow the manual's instructions on positioning and lowering.
Casters and moving it around
Four casters are fitted: two universal and two directional. VEVOR says this lets you roll the lift under the motorcycle and also move a heavy vehicle a short distance. The casters can be locked, which helps keep the unit from rolling while you work.
Build and storage
The frame is described as high-strength solid steel with a bright powder coating that resists rust, corrosion and grease. The lift measures 33.1 x 16.1 x 4.7 inches (about 84 x 41 x 12 cm) and weighs 58 lb (about 26 kg), so it is heavy to carry but low enough to tuck under a bench or beside a garage wall.
Who it suits
It suits home mechanics and small workshops that service motorcycles or ATVs regularly and have a flat, hard floor. It's a poor match for soft ground, gravel or uneven surfaces, where a scissor lift can't sit level.
What to check before you buy
- Weight: confirm your vehicle's weight, including luggage or accessories, is comfortably below the capacity.
- Fit: check the platform's length and width against your bike's frame, and that the lowest height clears your exhaust or fairings.
- Floor: you need a level, hard surface such as concrete.
- Workspace: allow room to roll the lift in and out and to reach the pedal.
- Wheel chocks or stands: think about how the bike will be held steady, and follow the manual's instructions.
- What's in the box: check that the ratchet belts and safety pin are included and match the parts list.
- Upkeep: look at the manual for how to check the hydraulic fluid and keep the moving parts clean.
