The VEVOR JY02 is a motorized jockey wheel that replaces the hand-cranked wheel on a trailer's tongue. Instead of pushing a caravan, boat or utility trailer by hand, the owner steers it with a control handle and lets the motor do the work. It is meant for short moves around a driveway, yard or storage lot.
What the motor and gearing do
VEVOR fits a 380W copper motor with a 326:1 reduction gear. A high reduction ratio trades speed for pulling force, which is why movers like this crawl along at low speed. VEVOR lists a towing capacity of up to 5,500 lb (about 2,500 kg) and says the unit is suited to boats, RVs and trailers.
Speed is slow by design: about 7 metres per minute empty and 5.2 metres per minute loaded (the listing also quotes 23 ft per minute). That gives you careful control for precise positioning in tight spots.
Load capacity and mounting
The dolly has a rated load capacity of 600 lb (about 272 kg), which refers to the weight the unit can carry on the trailer's tongue. VEVOR describes a four-point steel bracket system that it says secures the unit to the trailer without wobble or bending. The listing states it can be installed by drilling and fastening or by welding, and that you need to provide your own tools. The tongue weight of a loaded trailer varies, so compare it with this figure.
Adjustable height
The bracket height adjusts from 12.2 to 24.8 inches (about 31 to 63 cm), which VEVOR says fits most trailers and RVs. Measure the height of your trailer's coupler or tongue frame with the trailer level, and check that it falls inside that range.
Tire and surface
The 8-inch tire is solid rubber, so it cannot go flat. The gears come pre-lubricated. VEVOR states it is intended for hard, flat surfaces such as concrete and asphalt, and not for grass, gravel or slopes. That limit matters if your trailer is parked on soft ground.
Power supply
The unit runs on 12V, but the power supply is not included. You will need a suitable 12V battery or source and the correct connection, so check the manual for requirements.
Size
The listed dimensions are about 26.4 x 15.4 x 31.1 inches (67 x 39 x 79 cm) and the weight is 30.6 lb (about 13.9 kg).
What to check before you buy
- Trailer weight: compare your trailer's total and tongue weight with the 5,500 lb and 600 lb figures.
- Surface: confirm the area is hard, flat and level, with no slopes.
- Mounting height: measure to make sure it falls within 12.2-24.8 inches.
- Power: plan the 12V battery you will use and how to connect it.
- Installation: decide whether you will drill or weld, and have the tools ready.
- Safety: follow the manual and keep clear of the trailer while moving it.
