The KING BIRD CA3033 is a full cover for Class A motorhomes from 30 to 33 feet long, meant for an RV that spends the off-season or long stretches parked outdoors. It combines rip-stop fabric, a water-resistant membrane, zippered access panels and extra wind straps. Here is what those features mean, and how to check the fit.

Sizing: measure the whole RV

The cover measures 396 x 110 x 120 inches (about 10.1 x 2.8 x 3.0 m) and is listed for 30-33 ft Class A motorhomes. KING BIRD's sizing advice is to measure the RV yourself rather than rely on the model number or the manufacturer's stated length, and to include the bumper, the spare tire, the ladder and roof equipment. If your RV is close to the top of a size range, KING BIRD suggests choosing the larger size.

Height matters as well: the size chart allows for up to 120 inches (10 ft), so roof air conditioners, vents and antennas need to fit within that.

Fabric and stitching

The fabric is rip-stop, a weave with reinforcing threads in a grid that keeps small tears from spreading. The top, edges and corners are double-stitched, stress points are thickened, and KING BIRD lists a tear strength of 400 lb. The lighter fabric used in this version is meant to make the cover easier to lift onto the roof and to fold away afterwards.

Rain, snow and sun

A water-resistant membrane in the fabric passed a 2,500 mm test. That figure describes the water pressure the fabric resists, expressed as the height of a column of water standing on it, and it means rain rolls off the surface. The listing also says the cover shields against UV, snow, dirt, nicks and scratches.

Wind, ventilation and visibility

Wind is a common challenge for large covers, since a loose cover can flap and rub against the RV. On the CA3033, the side tension panels have been moved to spread the load over a larger area, and two extra straps help secure it, along with buckles, tie-down straps and an elastic hem.

Six air vents on the sides reduce wind pressure under the cover, and the fabric is designed to dry quickly. Yellow reflective panels make the parked RV easier to see at night.

Access with the cover on

Two roll-up zippered door panels on the side let you reach the RV's entry doors and engine area without taking the cover off, which is handy for checks while it's parked. There are also two rear zippers, which KING BIRD designed for toy haulers, for loading bikes or motorcycles.

Who it suits

It suits owners of 30-33 ft Class A motorhomes who park outdoors, through the winter or between trips, and who want to get to the doors without removing the cover. KING BIRD lists 18 months of support with 24-hour response times.

What to check before you buy

  • Length: measure bumper to bumper, including the ladder, the spare tire and anything mounted at the back.
  • Height and roof equipment: make sure air conditioners, vents and antennas fit within 120 inches.
  • Door positions: check that the roll-up panels line up with your entry doors.
  • Fitting it: putting a cover on a Class A RV usually means working on the roof; plan a secure way up and a second person to help.
  • Packing away: let the cover dry before folding it.
