The VEVOR 12 Quart Hydraulic Power Unit is a 12-volt electric pump and reservoir assembly that supplies pressurised oil to a hydraulic cylinder. VEVOR designed it for dump trailers, dump beds and similar lifting jobs, and describes it as a direct replacement for 12V DC remotely controlled hydraulic systems. It arrives assembled, so the main work is plumbing and wiring it into the machine.

What a power unit does

A hydraulic power unit combines three parts: a motor, a pump and a tank of hydraulic oil. When the motor runs, the pump pushes oil into the cylinder and the cylinder extends, lifting a bed or platform. VEVOR's unit is powered by a 12V DC motor, which means it can run from a vehicle or trailer battery rather than mains power. The listing gives the motor's power as 1.6 to 3.0 kW.

Single-acting: power up, gravity down

This is a single-acting unit. Oil is pumped in to raise the load, and the load's own weight pushes the oil back to the tank when a valve is opened to lower it. That suits dump trailers and lifts where gravity does the lowering. It is not suited to jobs where the cylinder must be pushed back under power, which need a double-acting system.

Pressure limits and the relief valve

VEVOR gives a maximum relief pressure of 3200 PSI (about 220 bar) on the A port and 1500 PSI on the B port, both SAE #6. A relief valve opens to release oil when pressure reaches its set limit, protecting the pump and hoses against overpressure. The pressure you need depends on cylinder size and load, so check these against your equipment's own specifications and the manual.

Reservoir and build

The reservoir holds 12 quarts and is made of steel. VEVOR says the metal tank is not easy to crack or damage. A larger tank generally gives the oil more volume to dissipate heat and supports longer cylinders. The unit weighs about 31 lb (14 kg) and measures roughly 25.8 x 11.0 x 11.0 inches (65 x 28 x 28 cm).

What's in the box and setup

VEVOR says the unit is assembled in advance and has simple wiring with operating instructions. One additional SAE #6 connector and a 15 ft (about 4.6 m) remote control are included, so the operator can stand clear of the equipment. Because it works with high-pressure fluid and heavy battery current, follow the manual for hoses, fittings, fuses and cable sizes, and have the installation done by someone qualified if you are unsure.

Where it fits

VEVOR lists dump trailers and dump beds, stackers, and small to medium lifting platforms. It also says it works as a replacement pump on many existing 12V DC remote hydraulic systems.

Who it suits

It suits owners replacing a worn power unit on a dump trailer, and builders adding a lift to a trailer or small platform where a 12V supply is available.

What to check before you buy

  • Fit: match the port threads (SAE #6) and the existing hoses and fittings.
  • Cylinder: confirm the system is single-acting and its pressure limit is within the unit's limits.
  • Electrical: check battery capacity, cable gauge and fusing against the motor's draw, as the manual describes.
  • Oil: check which hydraulic fluid is recommended and whether the unit ships with any.
  • Space: allow for a 31 lb unit and a 12-quart tank on the trailer or frame.
  • Safety: never exceed the load limit of the lift, and support raised loads mechanically while working beneath them.

The short version

  • 12V DC single-acting hydraulic power unit with a 12-quart steel reservoir.
  • Relief pressure up to 3200 PSI on port A and 1500 PSI on port B.
  • Comes pre-assembled with a 15 ft remote and an extra SAE #6 connector.
  • Meant for dump trailers, dump beds, stackers and small lifts.
  • Power up, gravity down; follow the manual for installation.
