The VEVOR 116-gallon portable diesel tank is a self-contained fuel transfer tank with a 12V pump, hose and nozzle built in. It is meant for people who refuel trucks, tractors, boats or construction equipment away from a fuel station and want to keep a larger supply on site. Here is what its specs mean and what to think about before relying on it.

What 116 gallons means in practice

A 116-gallon capacity is roughly 439 litres, enough to refill several large vehicles or machines before the tank itself needs topping up. The tank measures 41 x 28.4 x 29 inches (about 104 x 72 x 73.5 cm) and VEVOR gives a net weight of 94.4 lb (42.8 kg) when empty. Diesel is heavy, typically around 7 lb per gallon, so a full tank is a very different load from an empty one. It's worth planning where it will sit and how it will be moved before it is filled.

Construction and the lockable lid

The tank body is polyethylene, a plastic widely used for fuel and chemical containers. VEVOR says it resists UV radiation and changing weather, with walls 6 mm thick and up to 12 mm at the thickest point. The upper lid is lockable with a copper lock, which VEVOR presents as a guard against theft.

A mechanical fuel gauge shows how much diesel is left, so there's no need for a dipstick or electronics to check the level.

The pump, hose and nozzle

The transfer pump runs on 12V DC, so it can be powered from a vehicle battery or another 12V source. VEVOR rates it at 140W and 2,600 RPM, with a maximum flow of 10.6 GPM (about 40 litres a minute). At that rate, filling a 30-gallon tank takes a few minutes. The hose and the electric wire are each 13.1 ft (4 m) long, which sets how far the vehicle can sit from the tank.

The nozzle shuts off automatically when the receiving tank is full, which helps limit overfilling and spills. VEVOR says it is made of aluminium alloy and PVC, with a rotatable adapter designed to keep the hose from knotting.

Two stages of filtration

The tank has a duplex filter. A front-end filter inside the tank separates larger particles, and an outer filter is meant to catch finer debris such as metal and other tiny particles. Filtering fuel at the transfer stage is a common way to protect injectors and fuel filters on the machines being filled, though how well it works depends on the condition of the fuel going in.

Moving it

Two grooves in the body make it easier to secure, and an integrated forklift pocket allows the tank to be lifted onto a truck bed or trailer with a forklift. VEVOR lists use on trucks, tractors, ships, motorhomes and in construction and other outdoor industries.

Who it suits

It fits farms, work sites, marinas and workshops that burn enough diesel to justify bulk storage on site, and anyone who wants refuelling to happen where the equipment is. The package contains the tank and a manual.

What to check before you buy

  • Rules for storing fuel: local codes, insurance terms and fire regulations often limit how much fuel can be kept and where. Check yours first, and follow the manual.
  • Diesel only: confirm the fuel type the manual allows, and don't use it for other liquids.
  • Power source: make sure you have a 12V supply that can handle a 140W pump, and check the 13.1 ft wire reaches it.
  • Space and ground: it is 41 inches long, so you need level, stable ground and room to reach the lid, gauge and hose.
  • Weight when full: plan lifting and transport for a heavy load, and confirm your forklift or trailer can take it.
  • Upkeep: ask how often filters should be checked or replaced and whether replacements are available.

The short version

  • A 116-gallon portable diesel transfer tank in gray polyethylene, 6 mm thick (up to 12 mm).
  • 12V DC pump rated at 140W and 10.6 GPM, with a 13.1 ft hose and 13.1 ft power wire.
  • Duplex filter, auto-shutoff nozzle and a mechanical fuel gauge.
  • Lockable lid and forklift pocket; 41 x 28.4 x 29 in, 94.4 lb empty.
  • Follow local fuel-storage codes and the manual.
