The Ehaho MT-6221 is a 26-inch, 2.1-channel sound bar made for open vehicles such as UTVs, ATVs, golf carts and boats. It pairs two full-range speakers with a rectangular subwoofer in a weather-resistant housing and plays music over Bluetooth.

What 2.1 channel means

A 2.1 system has two stereo channels (left and right) plus one channel for a subwoofer. Ehaho uses two 4-inch full-range speakers and a 26-inch rectangular subwoofer unit with two 4-inch drivers, and quotes a peak power of 700W. Peak power is a short-burst figure, not continuous output, so it says little about loudness on its own.

The listing notes that the subwoofer produces low frequencies only. Used alone, you would mostly feel vibration and hear faint sound, so the full-range speakers need to be connected for a complete sound. Ehaho says you must assemble the wiring harness as the manual describes.

Weather protection

The housing is rated IP66. The first digit, 6, means dust-tight, and the second, 6, means protected against powerful water jets. That makes it suited to open vehicles, rain and washdowns, though the manual will say what is not covered, such as submersion.

Inputs and control

The sound bar uses Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless streaming. It also has a USB port and a 3.5 mm AUX input for wired playback. Control comes from a panel on the unit and a wireless remote, which is useful when the bar is mounted out of reach.

Lighting

The subwoofer has RGB LED lights in the centre and on the sides. The two full-range speakers have blue lights that change in brightness with the volume. These can be a feature or a distraction, so check whether the lights can be turned off.

Power and mounting

It runs on 12V vehicles. Ehaho includes a cigarette lighter power connector for quick use, or you can connect the power cord directly to the battery. The adjustable mounting bracket fits tubes from 1 to 2 inches (about 2.5 to 5 cm) in diameter, such as roll bars. The dimensions are 3.3 x 25 x 5 inches (about 8 x 64 x 13 cm). Ehaho lists compatibility with ATVs, UTVs, golf carts, Polaris RZR and Can-Am Maverick X3 machines, and with marine use. For wired installation, follow the manual and consider fusing and the vehicle's electrical limits.

Who it suits

It suits owners of side-by-sides and golf carts who want a simple add-on sound system with Bluetooth, without rebuilding the vehicle's audio.

What to check before you buy

  • Mounting tube: measure the diameter of your bar; the bracket covers 1 to 2 inches.
  • Fit and length: the bar is about 25 inches long, so check the space across your roll cage.
  • Power: confirm a 12V supply, and decide between the lighter plug and a direct battery connection.
  • Wiring: plan time for the harness setup in the manual.
  • Volume and local rules: check noise rules where you ride.
  • Lights: see whether the RGB can be switched off, particularly at night.
