The Ehaho EH2002 is a 26-inch Bluetooth sound bar built to clamp onto the roll cage of a UTV, an ATV, a golf cart or a boat. It is designed to be heard over engine and wind noise, to stand up to water and dust, and to add lighting for evenings outdoors. Here is what its specifications mean before you fit one.

Speakers and the 500 W figure

Ehaho lists 500 watts from six drivers: two 1.5-inch tweeters for the highs, two 4-inch subwoofers for the bass and two 4-inch passive radiators. A passive radiator is an unpowered cone that moves with the air pressure inside the cabinet, extending the bass without needing an open port.

Wattage figures for vehicle audio are each maker's own and are measured in different ways, so treat them as a rough guide to loudness rather than a precise measure. Three EQ modes, Voice, Bass and Normal, are meant to adapt the sound to wind noise on the move or to a campsite. Ehaho also says its chipset limits distortion at high volume, and a Class-D amplifier converts power to sound with little heat, which typically keeps the current drawn from the vehicle's battery modest.

Lights and Party Mode

Six RGB light modes include music sync, solid, fading, jump, breathing and off, and there are four strobe lights as well.

Bluetooth 6.0 handles the connection to your phone. Auracast, a Bluetooth LE Audio feature that broadcasts one audio stream to many receivers, powers Party Mode: it links the bar with other Auracast-enabled Ehaho EH200 series speakers (EH2001, EH2002 and EH2003), so several vehicles can play the same music. Every unit has to support Auracast.

Built for weather and rough trails

The housing is aluminium alloy, sealed to IP66. In the IP code, the first 6 means dust-tight and the second 6 means protection against powerful water jets, which covers rain, splashes and mud. It is not the same as protection against being submerged. Ehaho adds a saltwater-resistant coating for use on boats, and anti-vibration damping on the mounts to cope with washboard trails and hard landings.

Mounting and power

Heavy-duty clamps fit roll-cage tubes from 1 to 2 inches (about 25 to 51 mm) across, without drilling, and the wiring is labelled. Ehaho puts installation at about 20 minutes.

The bar runs on 12V DC, with an operating range of 8 to 18 volts. That matches the usual 12V systems in UTVs, ATVs and boats, but vehicles with a higher voltage, such as electric golf carts, need a voltage converter; Ehaho warns that connecting without one can damage the bar.

Controls and what's in the box

A glove-friendly RF remote skips tracks, changes the volume and switches lighting modes. Radio-frequency remotes don't need a line of sight, unlike infrared ones, so it works from anywhere in or around the vehicle. There are also buttons on the bar and an AUX input for a wired source.

The box includes the mounting kit, a 13-foot (about 4 m) power cord, an AUX cable and the remote.

What to check before you buy

  • Voltage: confirm your vehicle's system voltage; anything outside 8 to 18 volts needs a converter.
  • Tube size and space: measure your roll-cage tubes and check there's room for a 26-inch bar where you want it.
  • Wiring: plan the cable route and the connection to your electrical system, following the manual.
  • Lights: if the vehicle is used on public roads, check local rules on coloured and flashing lights.
  • Washing: IP66 covers water jets, not close-range high-pressure washing; check the manual before cleaning.
  • Party Mode: syncing needs other Auracast-enabled EH200 series units.
