The AINAVI SW-10 is a slim, powered 10-inch subwoofer for cars and trucks. The speaker and amplifier are combined in one sealed aluminium enclosure, which is shallow enough to be fitted under a seat. It adds low bass that factory speakers usually can't reproduce.

Active design: amplifier included

A passive subwoofer needs a separate amplifier. An active one, like this, has the amplifier built in, so there is one box to install. That is useful where space is tight, such as in a truck cab or small car. AINAVI describes the power as 800 watts peak and 220 watts RMS. RMS is the more realistic measure of continuous output, while peak is a short-burst figure, so the 220W RMS number is the one to use when judging how it will run.

Amplifier controls

The amp provides several adjustments:

  • Variable low-pass filter, 50 Hz to 250 Hz: limits the subwoofer to low frequencies, so it doesn't try to play vocals and treble. A lower setting generally gives tighter bass.
  • Bass boost and gain: gain matches the sub's level to your head unit's output, and bass boost raises low frequencies. Setting gain too high can cause distortion, so adjust gradually.
  • Inputs: low-level RCA inputs, plus high-level inputs for stereos without RCA outputs. A high-to-low-level adapter is included in the package.

AINAVI also mentions a MOSFET power supply, designed for fast switching and lower thermal impedance.

Size and placement

The enclosure measures about 13.5 x 10.2 x 3.2 inches (343 x 260 x 82 mm) and weighs 8 lb. Its low profile is meant for under the passenger seat. Measure the gap under your seat, including seat rails and wiring, since seat designs vary widely.

Lighting and control

A blue LED ambient light can be controlled by a smartphone app or a remote. If you prefer to keep the interior dark at night, check the manual for turning the light off.

Installation

A complete wiring kit comes with the unit. AINAVI strongly encourages professional installation, which is sensible given that it involves a power connection from the battery, fusing and routing wires safely. Follow the manual and local guidelines.

Support

AINAVI lists a one-year warranty and technical support.

Who it suits

It suits drivers who want deeper bass without losing boot or cargo space, and those with trucks or small cars where a large boxed subwoofer won't fit. A shallow 10-inch design is generally a compromise: more convenient than a full-size box, but it usually won't match the output of a large sub in a tuned enclosure.

What to check before you buy

  • Space: measure under the seat before ordering.
  • Inputs: confirm which your stereo has, RCA or speaker-level.
  • Electrical: check that your car's wiring and fuse requirements match the manual.
  • Installation: decide whether you will fit it yourself or have it professionally installed.
  • Sound goals: a single sub adds bass and will not replace full-range speakers.
