The AINAVI car stereo is a 10.2-inch Android touchscreen head unit made for the second-generation Chevrolet Silverado, built from 2007 to 2013, and its fit list covers a range of other GM trucks, SUVs, vans and cars from the same era. It replaces the factory radio with a larger QLED touchscreen, wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a backup camera is included. Here is what its features mean and how to check that it fits your vehicle.

Which vehicles it fits

The listing's fit list names these models and years:

  • Chevrolet Silverado (2007-2013) and GMC Sierra (2007-2013)
  • Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban (2007-2014), GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali (2007-2014)
  • Chevrolet Avalanche (2007-2011)
  • GMC Acadia and Acadia Denali (2007-2012), Buick Enclave (2008-2012), Chevrolet Traverse (2009-2012)
  • Chevrolet Express van (2008-2011) and GMC Savana (2008-2013)
  • HUMMER H2 (2008-2009)
  • Chevrolet HHR (2006-2011), Impala (2006-2012), Equinox (2005-2009) and Monte Carlo (2006-2007)

One exception matters: AINAVI says the unit will not fit if the factory radio has an SRCE button on its right side, because that radio's power plug and wiring harness are a special design. The product images show the factory radios it fits next to that one, so compare them with your own dashboard before ordering.

Installation and the factory controls

According to the product images, the unit is plug and play with the original vehicle harness, and the factory steering wheel controls work with it. It sits in a frame made for the dash opening; the head unit itself measures about 9.9 by 5.8 inches (roughly 25 by 15 cm).

The box holds the head unit, the frame, a power cable, an RCA cable, a GPS module, a car microphone, a reversing control cable, two USB cables, a frame removal tool and the backup camera.

Wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto

CarPlay and Android Auto put a simplified version of your phone's maps, music, calls and messages on the car's screen. This unit supports both the wired versions, which run over a USB cable, and the wireless versions, which typically pair over Bluetooth and then carry picture and sound over Wi-Fi. Both work with voice commands through your phone's assistant.

The Android 13 system and connectivity

Outside CarPlay and Android Auto, the head unit runs its own Android 13 system on a 4-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. RAM is the working memory that lets several apps run at once, while storage holds apps, maps and media files.

Built-in GPS navigation shows real-time traffic when the unit is connected to a network, and offline maps can be downloaded for areas without coverage. The dual-band Wi-Fi works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz: 5GHz is typically faster over short distances, while 2.4GHz reaches a little further. Bluetooth 5.0 covers hands-free calls, music streaming and phonebook sync, music also plays from USB, and there is an AM/FM radio.

The backup camera

The included camera is a 1080P AHD unit with a 170° wide-angle lens and a waterproof design. AHD (analogue high definition) is a camera signal format common in vehicles that carries HD video over a simple cable. When you shift into reverse, the screen switches to the camera feed automatically. A camera adds a view behind the vehicle, but it doesn't replace checking mirrors and looking around.

Who it suits

It suits owners of a 2007-2013 Silverado, or one of the other listed GM models, who want phone navigation, music and calls on a larger screen and a backup camera.

What to check before you buy

  • Your model and year: find your exact vehicle and model year in the fit list above.
  • Your factory radio: check that it has no SRCE button on its right side, and compare your dash with the product images.
  • Your sound system: premium factory audio systems can need different wiring, so check which system your vehicle has.
  • Your phone: check whether it supports wired or wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
  • Installation: decide whether to fit it yourself or use an installer, follow the manual, compare the supplied cables with your vehicle's connectors, and allow time to route the camera cable to the rear.

The short version

  • A 10.2-inch Android 13 touchscreen stereo for the 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado and a list of related GM models.
  • It doesn't fit factory radios with an SRCE button on the right side.
  • Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
  • 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage on a 4-core processor.
  • A 1080P AHD backup camera with a 170° lens is included.
