The VEVOR Triple Lens Endoscope Camera is a handheld inspection camera, often called a borescope. A slim probe on a cable carries a small camera and lights into places you cannot see directly, such as an engine cylinder, a pipe, a duct or a wall cavity, and shows the picture on a screen built into the handheld unit.
Three lenses, three viewpoints
The probe has one camera at the front and two on the side. VEVOR says the lenses have different focal lengths, giving a larger field of view and sharper images from different angles. Side cameras are useful when you need to look at the wall of a pipe or cylinder rather than straight ahead. VEVOR notes that the LED lights switch in sequence and cannot be lit all together.
Screen and image quality
The 4.5-inch IPS screen has a resolution of 854 x 450, and the lens resolution is 1920 x 1080. The screen is lower resolution than the lens, so recorded pictures and video may look sharper when viewed on a computer. A 180° image rotation function lets you flip the picture when the probe is inverted or when working from awkward angles.
Probe, cable and lighting
The probe is 8mm in diameter and rated IP67, which VEVOR describes as waterproof and oil-proof. IP67 means protection against dust and immersion in shallow water for a limited time, so it is not meant for deep or permanent submersion. The semi-rigid cable is 16.4 ft (5 m) long, which VEVOR says balances flexibility and shape-holding when guiding it through tight spaces. There are eight lights on the camera plus two more, with three adjustable brightness levels.
Battery, storage and accessories
A 2,860mAh battery supports up to 4-5 hours of continuous use, according to VEVOR, and it recharges using a USB charger. A 32GB TF (microSD-type) card is included for photos and videos. Accessories listed are a hook, a magnet and a protective cap, which can help retrieve small items from tight spots.
Where it is used
VEVOR lists auto engine inspections, sewer checks, HVAC duct inspections and industrial pipeline checks. Typical jobs in general include looking inside cylinders, behind panels, in drain lines or along wiring runs.
Who it suits
It suits home mechanics, plumbers, HVAC technicians and DIYers who need to look into enclosed spaces. The unit measures about 6 x 1.4 x 3.1 inches and weighs about 1 lb.
What to check before you buy
- Probe diameter: 8mm needs an opening wide enough to pass through.
- Cable length: 16.4 ft covers many jobs but not long pipe runs.
- Environment: do not use it near live electrical components, and keep to the manual's limits on water and temperature.
- Screen vs recording: decide whether the on-board screen is enough.
- Storage: check the card format and how to transfer files.
- Retrieval accessories: they suit light objects only.
