The VEVOR KSY-02 is a pipe and drain inspection camera. A small waterproof camera head on a 164-foot (50 m) cable feeds live pictures to a 4.3-inch monitor, so you can look inside drains, ducts and pipelines without digging or cutting them open. It is aimed at plumbers and contractors, though VEVOR also lists home use.
The camera head
The camera is 0.7 inches (17 mm) in diameter and IP68-certified, the highest common dust-and-water class, meaning it is built to be fully submerged. Six LED lights illuminate the pipe. VEVOR lists compatible straight pipes from 0.98 to 3.94 inches (25-100 mm) and right-angle pipes from 1.97 to 3.94 inches (50-100 mm). A flexible spring behind the head helps it turn corners in hard-to-reach areas.
Cable and reel
The 164 ft cable is described as rugged. A cable reel keeps it organized, which makes a difference in practice: a loose cable of that length tangles easily and is hard to feed back in. Look for depth markings in the manual or product details if you need to record how far a blockage is.
Monitor and recording
The 4.3-inch colour TFT LCD monitor is listed as 1200TVL. A DVR function records images and video to the included 16 GB micro SD card, so you can save footage for later analysis or to show a client. Check the manual for the file formats and how to play back the recordings.
Battery
An 8500mAh rechargeable lithium battery is included. VEVOR says it supports up to 14 hours of continuous work, and a display shows the remaining capacity. VEVOR suggests charging fully the day before a job.
Where it is used
VEVOR names wastewater and stormwater systems, various pipelines, drains and ducts, for use by plumbers, contractors, inspectors, engineers and municipal workers. Home owners might use it to look at a slow drain or a duct run in a wall.
Size and weight
The kit measures 13.6 x 12.4 x 6.5 inches (about 35 x 31 x 17 cm) and weighs 8.4 lb (about 3.8 kg).
What to check before you buy
- Pipe diameter: confirm your pipes fall within the listed range, 25-100 mm.
- Cable length: 164 ft is plenty for most house drains; check the longest run you need.
- Bends: right-angle pipes need at least 50 mm.
- Cleaning: inspect and wash the cable and head after use, following the manual.
- Storage: confirm the SD card and file format work with your computer.
- Charging: plan time to charge the battery before a job.
