The Veise Smart Deadbolt is a keypad lock with a circular, low-profile design, finished in matte black. It is managed from a phone app, and it can also be connected to voice assistants through a separate gateway. This overview explains how its access codes work, what needs extra hardware and what to check before installing it.
App access and shared access
The lock pairs with the KK Home app. Through it you can create and send passcodes, manage who has access and read access logs. Veise also describes shared access, which lets you give family members, visitors or tenants permission to use the lock. An access log is useful for landlords and parents, because it shows when a code was used.
Four kinds of PIN code
Up to 20 users can be set up, using four kinds of code:
- Permanent: for household members.
- Duration: valid for a set period, such as a week for a guest.
- One-time: for a single visit, such as a delivery or viewing.
- Recurring: for repeating times, such as a cleaner who comes on set days.
Time-limited codes are the main practical benefit of a smart lock, since access expires without anyone having to collect a key. Veise says unwanted codes can be deleted with one tap.
Auto-lock, privacy and other modes
The auto-lock delay can be adjusted from 10 to 180 seconds in the app, and pressing any key for two seconds locks the door at once. Veise also lists privacy mode, silent mode, vacation mode, a wrong-code entry limit, an anti-peeping keypad and a low-battery alert. The anti-peeping feature typically lets you add extra digits around the real code so onlookers cannot easily read it.
Two backup keys
The lock comes with two mechanical keys. If the batteries die or the electronics fail, you can still open the door. Veise also notes that the circular shape has no sharp edges against the door.
Remote control needs a gateway
Bluetooth control works near the door. To lock or unlock from elsewhere, receive notifications and check the lock's status, Veise says you need its G1 WiFi gateway, which is sold separately. With the gateway, the lock can work with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice commands. If you plan to use remote features, include the gateway in your plans, and make sure your Wi-Fi reaches the front door area.
Fit and installation
Veise says the lock fits most standard US left- and right-handed doors and that installation can take about 10 minutes with a screwdriver. The listed dimensions are 3.8 x 6.1 x 8.8 inches. As with any deadbolt, measure your door's thickness, hole size and backset against the manual before ordering, and follow the installation steps and local codes. Support is described as at least a one-year warranty, weekday phone support from 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific time and 24/7 email service.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners who want to see and control access from a phone, hosts and landlords handing out temporary codes, and households with regular visitors such as cleaners or sitters. If you only want a simple keypad with no app, a basic model may be enough.
What to check before you buy
- Gateway: remote access and voice control require the separate G1 gateway.
- Phone compatibility: check that the app supports your phone's operating system.
- Door preparation: thickness, hole size and backset.
- Batteries: check the type and the replacement steps in the manual, and keep the backup keys somewhere secure.
- Rules: follow the manual and local codes, especially for doors that serve as an exit.
