The Redragon K745 PRO is a full-size wireless mechanical keyboard with RGB lighting, a gasket-mounted body and hot-swappable switches. It is aimed at people who want a quieter, softer typing feel than a traditional screwed-together board gives, for both gaming and everyday work. Here is what its main features mean.
What "gasket mounted" means
In many mechanical keyboards the plate and circuit board are screwed rigidly to the case. A gasket design instead holds the internal assembly between strips of soft material. Redragon says the K745 PRO uses precision-locked covers with gaskets, which it describes as giving even feedback and a softer, more cushioned feel. Typically the benefit is less harsh bottoming-out and a slightly more flexible, muted sound.
Five layers of sound dampening
Redragon lists five noise-dampening elements, plus the silicone gasket itself: 3.5mm PO foam, IXPE switch foam, a PET sound pad, bottom socket foam and a silicone bottom pad. Foam inside a keyboard case generally reduces the hollow, echoing sound that a plastic shell can produce. It will not make a mechanical keyboard silent, but it does change the tone of each keystroke.
Switches and hot-swap sockets
The board ships with Redragon's custom Mint Mambo switch, a thick-lubed linear type. Linear switches go straight down with no tactile bump or click, which many people find smooth for gaming. The sockets are hot-swappable, meaning switches pull out and push in without soldering. Redragon says the upgraded socket accepts nearly all 3-pin and 5-pin switches, so you can try a different feel later. The LEDs are south-facing, a layout that typically avoids clashing with keycaps that have a tall profile.
Three ways to connect
The K745 PRO supports a USB-C wired connection, Bluetooth (3.0 and 5.0) and a 2.4GHz wireless mode. Wired is the usual choice when you want the lowest latency and to charge at the same time. The 2.4GHz mode generally suits gaming wirelessly, while Bluetooth is handy for switching between a laptop, tablet or phone.
Layout, keycaps and adjustments
It is a full-size 108-key layout: the standard 104 keys with a number pad, plus four extra shortcut keys. The listing states 104-key anti-ghosting, so several keys can be registered at once. The round PBT keycaps come in two mixed colours. PBT is a harder plastic than ABS and typically resists the shiny wear that builds up with use. Two-stage adjustable feet change the typing angle, and the board weighs about 1.9 lb (0.86 kg).
Software and macros
Redragon offers companion software for building lighting modes and effects and for assigning macros and key bindings. Macros let one key trigger a sequence of actions, which is useful in games and for repetitive work tasks.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a full-size board with a number pad, a gasket-style typing feel and the option to change switches later. It is less suited to anyone who wants a compact desk footprint, since the 108-key layout is wide.
What to check before you buy
- Desk space: a full-size board with extra keys needs more room than a tenkeyless or 75% layout.
- Connection: confirm your device has a USB port for the 2.4GHz receiver, or supports Bluetooth.
- Switch feel: linear switches have no tactile bump; if you prefer a click or bump, you would need to swap them.
- Software: check that the companion software supports your operating system.
- Battery: wireless use means periodic charging over USB-C; check the manual for charging guidance.
- In the box: look for the keycap and switch pullers, cable and receiver, as listed by the brand.
