The Redragon K673 PRO is a compact mechanical gaming keyboard with 81 keys, RGB backlighting and three ways to connect. It drops the number pad to leave more desk space for a mouse, but keeps a row of function keys. Here is what its main design choices mean and who they suit.
What a 75% layout gives you
Redragon says the K673 PRO keeps the length of a traditional 65% board while adding a dedicated function-key row across the top. A 65% layout usually hides those keys behind an Fn combination. Here, Redragon points out that no Fn combos are needed for them.
The trade-off is the usual one for compact boards: there is no number pad. If you enter a lot of figures, that may matter. If you mostly game or write, the extra room for mouse movement is the benefit. The board measures about 13.8 x 5.1 inches (35 x 13 cm) and weighs 1.1 lb (about 0.5 kg), so it is easy to move around or pack.
Gasket mounting and a softer feel
Many keyboards fix the plate to the case with screws. Redragon describes a "gasket" structure instead, in which the internal assembly sits on cushioning gaskets between precision-locked covers. In general, this arrangement adds a little flex and absorbs the harsh bottom-out impact, which tends to give a softer, more even typing feel and less rattle.
Noise dampening layers
Redragon lists two kinds of sound-absorbing material: a 3.5 mm foam layer and a thick silicone pad around the circuit board, along with the silicone gasket. The idea is to reduce the hollow echo inside the case so you hear mostly the switch itself. The listing describes the switches as Linear Red, which are generally smooth, with no tactile bump or click, and are often chosen for fast, quiet-ish gaming.
Three connection modes
The keyboard supports a wired USB-C connection, Bluetooth (3.0/5.0) and a 2.4GHz wireless link. Typically, a 2.4GHz connection offers the lowest latency for gaming, Bluetooth is convenient for switching between a laptop, tablet or phone, and a cable is handy when you want a steady connection without relying on the battery.
The control knob
A dedicated knob handles backlight brightness and media control, including volume, play/pause and track switching. Redragon notes it means no extra keys or space are needed for those functions.
Hot-swap sockets
The "hot-swap" feature means the switches plug into sockets rather than being soldered. In general, you can pull a switch out and fit another compatible one without a soldering iron, which makes it possible to change the feel later or replace a failed switch. Check which switch types fit the sockets before you buy replacements.
Who it suits
This keyboard suits players and typists who want a small footprint, wireless freedom and a quieter, cushioned typing feel, and who are comfortable giving up the number pad. It also suits anyone who wants to experiment with different switches over time.
What to check before you buy
- Layout: confirm you can live without a number pad and with the 81-key arrangement.
- Switch type: the listing describes Linear Red switches; make sure a smooth, non-clicky action is what you want.
- Connection: check that your devices support Bluetooth or have a free USB port for the 2.4GHz receiver or cable.
- Battery: check the manual for how it charges and how long it runs with the backlight on.
- Software and operating system: check that the lighting and key settings you want are supported on your system.
- Replacement switches: check compatibility with the hot-swap sockets before buying extras.
