The HP P24h G5 is a 23.8-inch Full HD monitor for home offices and workplaces. It pairs a 1920 x 1080 IPS panel with a 75Hz refresh rate, built-in speakers and a height-adjustable stand. This page explains what those specifications mean for everyday use.

Resolution and screen size

The screen is 23.8 inches (about 60 cm) diagonally, with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, known as Full HD, in a 16:9 widescreen shape. Native resolution means the panel shows Full HD sources pixel for pixel, with no scaling needed. At this size, Full HD gives a reasonably sharp image at normal desk distance.

Panel type, brightness and backlight

HP's description calls it an IPS monitor, while the feature list mentions edge LED backlighting. IPS panels typically hold their colours well when viewed from an angle. Brightness is rated at 250 nits, which is fine for normal indoor rooms, though a very bright, sunlit room can wash out any screen of this brightness.

Refresh rate and response time

The monitor runs at a 75Hz standard refresh rate, a step above the 60Hz common on basic office screens. HP says this reduces blur and gives fluid motion. The response time is 5 ms, which describes how fast pixels change. HP positions it for action films, sports and gaming, though it is mainly built for productivity.

Ports and audio

The listing names a DisplayPort interface. Check the full specification for other inputs such as HDMI or USB ports, because the listing doesn't list them. HP says it includes dual built-in speakers, which saves desk space for calls and casual listening.

Stand and design

HP describes a 3-sided micro-edge bezel, cable management, and a stand base 27% smaller than before. The stand adjusts for tilt and height, which helps set the top of the screen near eye level. Dimensions are about 21.2 x 12.7 inches with the stand, and the weight is 12.9 lb (about 5.9 kg).

Controls, software and sustainability

An on-screen menu is controlled with a Joypad button. HP Display Center and HP Display Manager manage settings and updates from the computer. HP says the monitor is EPEAT registered and ENERGY STAR certified, contains 85% recycled plastics from recycled IT equipment, and ships in recyclable packaging.

Who it suits

It suits home offices, hybrid workers and general office use, where a clear Full HD screen, adjustable stand and speakers cover most needs. Colour-critical work such as photo editing is better served by monitors with colour accuracy specifications.

What to check before you buy

  • Cable and inputs: confirm your computer has DisplayPort or a compatible adapter.
  • Desk depth: make sure the stand and screen fit your desk.
  • Mounting: check the manual if you plan to use a wall or arm mount.
  • Sound: the speakers are a convenience, not a replacement for good speakers.
  • Colour needs: check the colour specifications if accuracy matters.
