The eufy Smart Lock C33 (model T85L0, 2025 version) is a keyless door lock that opens with a fingerprint and can also be managed from a phone. It combines a handle grip with the sensor and has Wi-Fi built in, so it does not need a separate hub. Below is what each feature means and what to confirm before you choose a smart lock.

Fingerprint entry on the handle

The fingerprint reader sits in the handle, so you grip the door as you normally would and it unlocks. eufy says the biometric system learns and adapts to your usage, and that it works for every family member, including children. Fingerprint readers in general compare a scan against stored templates, and results can vary with wet, dirty or very dry fingers. It helps to enrol the same finger more than once, as the app instructions describe.

Integrated Wi-Fi and the app

Many smart locks need a bridge to reach the internet. The C33 has Wi-Fi integrated, so eufy says you can control the door from anywhere through the app. The listed features include access management, real-time notifications and a detailed event history. In practice that means you can see when the door was unlocked and by whom, and add or remove users without handing over a physical key. As with any connected device, the lock needs a stable home Wi-Fi signal at the door.

Auto-locking

Auto-locking re-secures the door after a set time, so it does not stay unlocked if someone forgets. Check the app for the delay options and make sure the door closes properly in its frame so the bolt can extend fully.

Battery life

eufy quotes up to 12 months on a single charge. Rechargeable batteries mean fewer disposable cells, but real-world life typically depends on how often the door is used, Wi-Fi signal strength and temperature. It is worth knowing what happens when the battery runs low, and what backup entry method is provided. Read the manual for the low-battery alerts and the emergency options.

Installation

eufy says the lock installs in about 15 minutes with no drilling and works on left-hand and right-hand doors, which makes it suitable for garage, side, office or basement doors. Smart locks must match the door's thickness, the existing bore and the bolt position, so confirm compatibility in the manual before you start.

Weather resistance and size

The lock is listed as IP53, which in general means it is protected against limited dust ingress and sprayed water. It is not designed to be submerged. The unit measures about 7.2 x 6.1 x 5.1 inches (18 x 15 x 13 cm), so check the clearance around it, especially on narrow door frames.

Support and coverage

eufy lists 24/7 customer support by phone, email and live chat, plus 18 months of coverage.

Who it suits

It suits households that want keyless entry without a hub, families who do not want to manage keys for children, and anyone who shares access with guests or helpers. People who do not have Wi-Fi at the door may prefer a lock that works without it.

What to check before you buy

  • Door fit: confirm the thickness, handing and existing hole layout match the lock.
  • Wi-Fi coverage: test your signal where the door is.
  • Backup entry: know how you would enter if the battery ran flat or the sensor failed.
  • Privacy: read how the app stores event history and notifications.
  • Local codes: door locks on fire exits or rentals may be subject to rules; follow local codes and the manual.
