The ELEGOO Jupiter SE is a large MSLA resin 3D printer. MSLA stands for masked stereolithography: a UV light shines through an LCD that masks each layer, hardening liquid resin only where the image is white. It's designed for printing bigger models or several parts at once, with a feature set that reduces some of the manual resin handling.
6K screen and detail
ELEGOO fits a 12.8-inch monochrome LCD with 5448 x 3064 pixels, called 6K, and gives an XY resolution of 51 microns. The XY resolution is the smallest detail the printer can draw on a layer, set by the screen size divided by its pixels. A bigger screen with the same pixel count has larger pixels, which is why 51 microns here is a trade-off for a much bigger print area.
Build volume
The build volume is 277.848 x 156.264 x 300 mm (10.94 x 6.15 x 11.81 inches). That suits tall figures, larger props and batches of small parts laid out on the plate. ELEGOO describes it as suitable for professional or commercial use.
Automatic resin feeding and recycling
An air pump with two probes creates a pressure difference to feed resin into the vat and to take it back. ELEGOO says this keeps resin supplied during a print and collects unused resin for reuse, cutting down on manual refilling and spills. Check the manual for how the feeding module is loaded and cleaned.
Light source and cooling
The printer uses a COB light source with a refractive element, which ELEGOO says reduces light dispersion and gives more even exposure across the plate. Cooling fans and copper heat-conducting tubes sit on both sides of the light, aiming to keep temperature stable and extend its service life.
Z-axis and build plate
A dual linear guide rail on the Z-axis, rated at 0.02 mm accuracy, keeps the plate's vertical motion steady and reduces vibration. The build plate has a laser-carved surface for grip, a four-point leveling system that ELEGOO says needs setting only once, and a rotary handle for quick release.
Lid, filter and screen
The lid is red-tinted and UV-resistant, with two handles. A built-in activated carbon filter and plastic protective case reduce resin odour. A 3.5-inch touchscreen runs the controls. Even with a filter, resin should be handled as the manual instructs, with gloves and good ventilation.
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists and small businesses printing large models, cosplay parts or batches, and users who want the resin handled more automatically. It's less necessary if you only print small miniatures.
What to check before you buy
- Space: the listing gives dimensions of 19.6 x 34.3 x 18.9 inches, so plan the desk and ventilation.
- Resin and cleanup: you'll need resin, wash and cure steps, gloves and a way to dispose of waste properly.
- Detail vs size: compare 51 µm XY resolution with the fineness your models need.
- Feeding module: check the manual for resin compatibility and cleaning.
- Upkeep: plan for replacing film, vats and the filter.
