The CAPERAVE CF15 is a 15.6-inch portable monitor that works as a second screen for a laptop, or as a display for a games console, tablet or phone. It's thin enough to slip into a bag, and it connects with a single USB-C cable or through HDMI.
Screen and resolution
The panel is 15.6 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Full HD). CAPERAVE says it's an IPS display with an anti-glare finish and a 178° viewing angle. IPS panels typically keep colour and brightness fairly consistent when seen from the side, which helps when the screen is shared. The brand also mentions HDR, brighter highlights and deeper colours, plus flicker-free and blue light reduction modes.
Connecting it
The monitor offers two ways in:
- USB-C: a single full-featured cable carries video and power. Your device must support Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.1 Type-C DP Alt Mode for this to work, as CAPERAVE notes. Many modern laptops do, but not all USB-C ports carry video.
- HDMI: a standard HDMI port for computers and consoles without video over USB-C.
CAPERAVE says no drivers are needed, and lists compatibility with laptops, desktops, MacBooks, tablets, phones, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox.
Display modes and the speaker
The monitor supports copy (mirror), extended, second screen and portrait modes. The mode you can use is set in your computer's display settings. A built-in speaker is listed, which is useful for quick video playback, though external speakers or headphones usually give better sound.
Kickstand and size
A built-in adjustable kickstand holds the monitor at the angle you choose, so you don't need a separate stand. It measures about 14.0 x 8.4 inches with a thickness of 0.5 inch (roughly 35.6 x 21.3 x 1.3 cm), which CAPERAVE describes as ultra-slim and lightweight enough for a suitcase or backpack.
Who it suits
It suits people who work on a laptop and want more screen space on the road or at a kitchen table, students, and gamers who want a screen for a console. Because it's a 15.6-inch screen, it lines up well with a laptop of similar size.
What to check before you buy
- Video over USB-C: confirm that your device's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt.
- Power: a single cable may draw power from the laptop or phone, so check battery impact; the manual describes alternatives.
- Cables: see what's supplied in the box, and whether a cable fits your devices.
- Resolution: 1080p is a good fit at this size, but it won't suit tasks that need very high pixel density.
- Stand position: a kickstand needs a flat surface and some depth.
- Sound: a small speaker is basic, so check whether you need headphones.
