The BLUETTI X60 is a portable power supply with a 614Wh capacity, designed to run a CPAP or BiPAP machine when mains power isn't available. People look at units like this for power outages, camping trips and travel. It comes with a cable set intended to match many common machines.

What 614Wh means

Watt-hours (Wh) measure how much energy a battery holds. A device that draws 50 watts for one hour uses 50Wh, so 614Wh could in theory supply 50 watts for about twelve hours. Real runtime is always lower than the arithmetic, because of conversion losses and because power draw varies with settings. How long it lasts depends on your machine, its pressure settings and whether a heated humidifier is on, since heating uses a lot more power than the motor.

BLUETTI says the X60 can provide 10 to 14 nights of power for about 90% of CPAP and BiPAP devices, naming examples such as the ResMed AirSense 10 and 11 and System One 50 and 60. Check your own machine's listed power draw against that claim.

The outputs

The X60 has five DC outputs:

  • three ports designed for CPAP machines: 12V/5A, 16V/4A and 24V/4A
  • one USB-A port at 5V/3A
  • one USB-C port at up to 100W

CPAP machines run on different DC voltages, which is why there are three. Using the DC port directly, rather than converting through a mains inverter, is generally more efficient, so the battery lasts longer. The USB ports can charge phones, tablets or a small laptop, although doing so draws down the same battery.

Cables in the box

BLUETTI lists seven DC power cables and a connector for the AirSense and AirCurve 10 families, and says the cables are colour-coded and labelled so they are easy to match to ports. The brand says this set covers about 90% of mainstream CPAP machines. The full package is the X60, an AC adapter, a car charger cable, an accessory bag, a user manual and a 12-month warranty.

Charging

BLUETTI says the battery recharges in about 4 hours from either the AC adapter or the car charging cable. A car cable is useful on road trips, but follow the manual about how long to run it with the engine off.

Size and weight

The unit measures about 12.0 x 9.9 x 5.0 inches (30 x 25 x 13 cm) and weighs 15.4 lb (about 7 kg). That is small enough to fit beside a bed or in a camping bag, though it is heavier than a typical power bank.

Who it suits

It suits people in areas with unreliable mains power, those who camp or travel away from outlets, and households preparing for storm outages. It is not meant to run household appliances such as heaters or kettles.

What to check before you buy

  • Your machine: confirm the model, its voltage and the cable you need against the supplied cable list and the manuals of both products.
  • Humidifier use: heated humidifiers can use much more power, so ask the CPAP maker about running without it on battery.
  • Runtime: estimate from your own machine's average draw, not from the headline figure.
  • Medical guidance: follow your care provider's and the device maker's instructions on backup power.
  • Weight and space: at 15.4 lb, make sure you have a convenient place for it.
  • Storage and charging: keep it charged and follow the manual for storage.
