The ASUS ZenScreen Duo OLED MQ149CD is a portable monitor made of two 14-inch OLED screens joined by a hinge. It is meant for people who want more screen space for a laptop than the laptop's own display gives them, without carrying a full-size desktop monitor. It folds flat for travel and opens into a two-screen workspace.
Two panels, one workspace
Each panel is 14 inches with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The 16:10 shape is a little taller than the 16:9 used by most monitors, which gives more vertical room for documents, spreadsheets and web pages. ASUS describes the pair as a combined workspace of roughly 20 to 21 inches.
Used side by side, the screens work like a wide dual-monitor setup, with the hinge line between them. Turned to portrait orientation, they stack into a tall display, which many people like for reading code, long documents or chat windows.
What the OLED panel brings
OLED screens light each pixel individually, so black areas can be truly dark. ASUS lists DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification, which is a VESA tier built around that deep black level. The panel also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, a wide range often used in film and photo work, and ASUS quotes colour accuracy of Delta-E below 2. In general, a Delta-E under 2 means differences from the target colour are hard to see by eye. Those figures are the brand's own, and actual results depend on your settings and surroundings.
A 360° hinge, kickstand and tripod mount
The hinge turns through 360°, so the two screens can sit side by side, fold back to back or lie flat. ASUS also lists an integrated fold-out kickstand that supports both landscape and portrait positions, plus a standard tripod mount for setups where you want to raise the screens to eye level.
DisplayWidget Center is the ASUS software that handles automatic screen rotation, so the picture turns when you change the orientation.
Connections and portability
The model name points to dual USB-C ports and a mini-HDMI input. In general, a USB-C port that supports video output lets a single cable carry both picture and power from a compatible laptop, while mini-HDMI covers devices without that option. Check which of your devices can output video over USB-C, since not every USB-C port can.
It measures about 12.6 x 8.4 inches with the screens closed, is 0.6 inches thick folded, and weighs 1.07 kg (2.4 lb). That is light enough for a laptop bag, though a pair of screens adds noticeable weight compared with a single portable display.
Who it suits
It suits people who work across several windows at once on a laptop: travelling professionals, developers, traders, writers and students. It also helps anyone who shares a screen across a table, since the hinge lets you angle one panel toward another person.
What to check before you buy
- Ports: confirm your laptop or other device can send video over USB-C, or that it has a way to use the mini-HDMI input.
- Power: check whether your device can power the screens over USB-C or whether you need a separate power source, as the manual describes.
- Desk space: open, the two panels need a deep enough surface for the kickstand to stand stably.
- Software: check that your operating system supports the rotation feature and the multiple-display layout you want.
- OLED care: read the manual on static images and screen brightness, which matters for any OLED display.
- What's in the box: check which cables and carrying accessories are included.
