The ASUS VY27UQ is a 27-inch monitor with a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS panel. ASUS positions it for eLearning, work and entertainment, with HDR10 support, Adaptive-Sync and a 60 Hz refresh rate. It has DisplayPort and HDMI inputs and built-in speakers.
What 4K at 27 inches means
A 4K panel has four times the pixels of a 1080p screen. At 27 inches, that works out to a pixel density of roughly 163 pixels per inch, which usually makes text and images look crisp. The trade-off is that on-screen items can look small at the native setting, so most computers use display scaling to enlarge them. The computer or graphics card also needs to drive 4K output.
IPS panel and viewing angles
IPS is a panel type known for consistent colour and wide viewing angles. ASUS quotes 178° viewing angles, meaning the picture stays fairly consistent when seen from the side, which helps when sharing a screen or sitting off-centre.
HDR10
HDR10 is a common high dynamic range format. ASUS says it improves bright and dark areas for a more lifelike picture. How much of a difference you see depends on the content and the monitor's peak brightness, and many monitors with HDR10 support show a more modest effect than dedicated HDR displays. The listing doesn't give a brightness figure, so look up ASUS's specification sheet if that matters to you.
Adaptive-Sync and 60 Hz
Adaptive-Sync lets the monitor match its refresh rate to the frame rate coming from the computer, which reduces tearing and stutter. ASUS pairs it with a 60 Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals in everyday use. 60 Hz is standard for office work and video. Competitive gamers often look for higher rates, so think about what you will use it for.
Eye Care Plus features
ASUS lists a Blue Light Filter, flicker-free operation and Eye Care Plus, which includes a Color Augmentation mode for users with colour-vision deficiency and a Rest Reminder to manage screen time. These are ASUS's descriptions of the software features, and you can look at the on-screen menu or DisplayWidget software to see how they work. The monitor bezels and hotkeys also have an antibacterial surface treatment, according to ASUS.
Connections and sound
Inputs are DisplayPort and HDMI, and the box includes one of each cable. Built-in speakers let you play audio without separate ones, though monitor speakers are typically modest and many people add headphones or desktop speakers. DisplayWidget is ASUS's software for adjusting settings from the computer.
What's in the box
ASUS lists a DisplayPort cable, an HDMI cable, an L-shaped screwdriver, a power cord, a quick start guide and a warranty card, with a 3-year warranty. A listed Adobe Creative Cloud trial offer ran only until 31 August 2025, so it no longer applies.
Size
The listing gives 21.0 x 38.0 x 49.0 inches and 11.2 lb, which appear to be packaging figures. Check ASUS's specification sheet for the monitor's own dimensions with the stand.
Who it suits
It suits home and office users who want sharp text and photos on a 27-inch screen, students and anyone using video, documents and spreadsheets. It is less aimed at fast-paced gaming.
What to check before you buy
- Computer output: confirm your computer can drive 4K at 60 Hz over DisplayPort or HDMI.
- Desk space: a 27-inch screen needs enough width and depth.
- Stand: check the stand's adjustments, or mounting support if you use an arm.
- Scaling: consider how your operating system handles scaling.
- Audio: decide whether the built-in speakers are enough.
- Warranty: read the 3-year warranty terms.
