The ASUS VP32UQ (model VP32U) is a 31.5-inch monitor with a 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and an IPS panel. It is a general-purpose display for office work, photo and video editing, streaming and some gaming. This page explains what the listed specifications mean.
4K resolution at 31.5 inches
A 3840 x 2160 picture has four times the pixels of a 1080p one. On a 31.5-inch screen that gives fine detail and sharp text, and room to place several windows side by side. Many operating systems scale the interface, so text stays readable. A 4K picture also needs a computer and graphics output able to drive it.
IPS panel and viewing angles
ASUS lists a 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angle. IPS panels typically hold colour and brightness well when seen from the side, which suits shared viewing and design work. The listing gives a 16:9 aspect ratio, 350 cd/m² typical brightness and a 4.0 millisecond response time.
Colour and HDR10
The monitor covers 100% of the sRGB colour space, the standard for most web content and many everyday images. sRGB coverage is a sensible baseline for general creative work. HDR10 support means it accepts high-dynamic-range signals, which are designed to show brighter highlights and deeper shadows in compatible content. As with most monitors at this brightness class, the HDR effect is typically more modest than on displays built specifically for it.
Adaptive-Sync and FreeSync
Adaptive-Sync lets the monitor match its refresh timing to the graphics card, which reduces screen tearing in fast-moving content. ASUS says it works with AMD Radeon graphics cards via FreeSync, and with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10, GTX 16, RTX 20 series and newer cards.
Eye Care certifications
ASUS lists TÜV Rheinland-certified flicker-free and low blue light technologies as part of its Eye Care line. These are the brand's certified features; check the manual for how to use the related settings.
Connections, speakers and mounting
The monitor has DisplayPort and HDMI inputs and built-in speakers for basic audio. It is frameless in design, tilt-adjustable and VESA mountable, so you can use the stand or a monitor arm. It measures 8.0 x 28.1 x 19.1 inches including the stand and weighs 17.2 lb (about 7.8 kg). The power supply is rated for 100-240V.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a large, sharp screen for productivity, photo and video work, or general use, and who connect through DisplayPort or HDMI. The tilt-only stand suits a desk where height is already right, with a VESA arm as an alternative.
What to check before you buy
- Graphics output: confirm your computer can output 4K at the refresh rate you want over its available port and cable.
- Desk space: a 28-inch-wide screen needs room and viewing distance.
- Stand adjustability: the stand tilts; check whether you need an arm for height or rotation.
- Colour needs: sRGB coverage may not satisfy work needing wider gamuts.
- What's in the box: check which cables are included.
