The ASUS TUF Gaming B760-PLUS WIFI is an ATX motherboard for 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core processors on the LGA 1700 socket. It uses DDR5 memory and adds a PCIe 5.0 slot, three M.2 slots, WiFi 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet. It is part of ASUS's TUF line, which emphasises durable components and cooling for gaming builds.

Socket, chipset and memory

The listing says the socket supports 13th Gen and 12th Gen Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron processors. The B760 chipset is a mainstream tier, and typically allows memory tuning but not CPU overclocking on locked chips. The board takes DDR5, so older DDR4 memory won't fit. ASUS lists AEMP II, a feature for loading tuned memory profiles. Check the manual for supported speeds and capacities.

Power design

ASUS describes 12+1 DrMOS power stages, a six-layer PCB, 8+4 ProCool power connectors and Digi+ VRM. The power stages feed the processor, and a stronger design generally helps keep voltage steady under heavy load, especially on higher-end chips. ASUS also says the board uses military-grade TUF components for durability. The 8+4 pin connectors mean the board takes two CPU power cables from your supply.

Cooling

Enlarged VRM heatsinks, M.2 heatsinks and a PCH heatsink cool the board's hottest parts. Hybrid fan headers take 3-pin and 4-pin fans, and Fan Xpert 4 is ASUS software for managing fan curves. M.2 heatsinks matter because fast SSDs can slow themselves down when they get hot.

Storage and expansion

A PCIe 5.0 slot is listed, which is the newest generation, intended for next-generation graphics cards. Today's cards mostly run well on PCIe 4.0, so the extra bandwidth is mostly for future use. Three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots allow several fast SSDs. Check which slots share lanes with SATA ports in the manual.

Connectivity

Intel WiFi 6 and Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet cover wireless and wired networking, and ASUS adds TUF LANGuard, its network protection design. USB is generous: a rear USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port (up to 20 Gbps), a front-panel header for USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and a Thunderbolt (USB4) header. That header needs a separate add-in card, so check the manual and which cards are supported.

Audio

Two-way AI Noise-Cancelation reduces background noise from the microphone and from the audio output, which suits online play and calls.

Size and who it suits

It is a full ATX board, about 14 x 10.8 inches in the listing's packaged dimensions, and weighs 3.1 lb. Check that your case supports ATX. It suits builders putting together a gaming or general PC around a 12th or 13th Gen Intel processor who want several M.2 slots and good cooling.

What to check before you buy

  • Processor and BIOS: confirm your chip is supported, and whether a BIOS update is needed first.
  • Memory: DDR5 only; check speeds and the number of slots.
  • Power supply: you'll need the 8-pin and 4-pin CPU connectors.
  • Case fit: check ATX support and cooler clearance.
  • Thunderbolt: the header needs an add-in card, which is sold separately.
  • Storage: count M.2 and SATA drives, and check for shared lanes.

The short version

  • An ATX LGA 1700 board for 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core, with DDR5.
  • 12+1 DrMOS power stages, enlarged heatsinks and Fan Xpert 4 cooling.
  • A PCIe 5.0 slot and three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.
  • WiFi 6, 2.5Gb Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C and a Thunderbolt (USB4) header.
