The ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCDP is a 32-inch WOLED gaming monitor with a dual-mode feature: it can run at 4K and 240Hz, or drop to Full HD and run at 480Hz. That choice suits players who want sharp images for some games and the fastest possible motion for others. Here is what the specs mean.
Dual mode: 4K 240Hz or FHD 480Hz
In 4K mode the resolution is 3840 x 2160, which on a 32-inch screen gives a detailed picture with room for several windows. In FHD mode the resolution falls to 1920 x 1080 but the refresh rate rises to 480Hz, meaning the image can update up to 480 times a second. Competitive players often prefer very high refresh rates because motion looks smoother and input feels more immediate.
The catch is that a PC has to render that many frames. Reaching 480Hz in FHD usually needs a powerful graphics card and a game that runs at very high frame rates. ASUS gives the grey-to-grey response time as 0.03ms and lists G-Sync compatibility.
What WOLED means
WOLED uses white OLED pixels with colour filters. As in any OLED, each pixel lights itself, so black areas can be truly dark. ASUS describes this as its third-generation ROG OLED panel, and says it delivers vibrant colours, deep blacks and bright highlights. The listing quotes 99% DCI-P3 coverage and true 10-bit colour, which suit games, film and colour-sensitive work.
Flicker, brightness and the AI tools
ASUS says its OLED Anti-flicker technology helps reduce flicker when the refresh rate fluctuates, which can happen with variable refresh rate gaming. There is also an optional uniform brightness setting that keeps luminance consistent across different scenes.
The monitor includes an AI Assistant with AI Crosshair, AI Sniper and AI Visual functions. These are in-monitor gaming overlays and image adjustments; whether they help is down to personal preference and the games you play, and some tournaments restrict such aids.
Cooling and OLED care
ASUS fits a custom heatsink to provide passive cooling, which it says helps reduce the risk of burn-in and supports the panel's longevity. OLED screens can retain an image if a static picture stays on screen for a long time, so it is sensible to use the care options. The DisplayWidget Center software lets you reach OLED Care functions and adjust settings with a mouse instead of the on-screen buttons.
Connections
The listing names DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC (Display Stream Compression), HDMI 2.1 and USB-C with 90 W Power Delivery. DSC is a method that allows high resolutions and refresh rates to fit over one cable. The USB-C port can carry picture and charge a compatible laptop at up to 90 W, so one cable can serve a work laptop.
In the box and warranty
ASUS lists a DisplayPort cable, an HDMI Ultra High Speed cable, a USB 3.2 cable, a USB-C cable, a VESA mount kit, a power cord and adapter, a ROG pouch, a sticker, a quick start guide, a warranty card and a colour pre-calibration report. The product title mentions a three-year warranty; check the terms for your region.
Who it suits
It suits PC gamers who want a large 4K OLED but also want the option of a high-refresh FHD mode for fast shooters. It also suits people who game and work on one screen. At 16.1 lb with the stand and a 28-inch width, it needs a solid desk.
What to check before you buy
- Graphics card: confirm it can drive 4K at high refresh rates, and ideally FHD at very high frame rates.
- Ports: check your PC or console has a matching DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1 output.
- Laptop charging: USB-C is listed at 90 W; confirm that covers your laptop.
- Desk and mounting: check the stand's depth, or use the VESA mount kit with an arm.
- OLED habits: follow the manual on screen-saver and refresh settings, and avoid static images for hours.
- Software offers: promotional extras mentioned in listings can expire, so confirm what is current.
