The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP is a 26.5-inch gaming monitor with a QHD (2560 x 1440) WOLED panel and a 480Hz refresh rate. ASUS positions it for esports and fast action games, where smooth motion and quick response matter more than raw screen size.
What 480Hz and 0.03ms mean
Refresh rate is how many times per second the screen redraws. At 480Hz it draws 480 images each second, against 60 on a standard monitor. You only see the benefit when your PC produces high frame rates, and it needs a capable graphics card and a suitable connection. ASUS lists a response time of 0.03ms. OLED pixels switch states very quickly, which typically reduces motion blur compared with most LCD panels.
The OLED panel
OLED pixels make their own light, so a black pixel is simply off. The result is deep contrast, which is why ASUS pairs the panel with a DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification. The panel is WOLED, a white OLED design with colour filters. ASUS lists 99% DCI-P3 coverage and a Delta E below 2, with true 10-bit colour. Delta E under 2 means colour differences are generally hard to see, so it suits colour-sensitive work as well as gaming.
Care for the panel
OLED screens can be affected by burn-in, the lasting image retention that comes from static images shown for long periods. ASUS says OLED Care+ software offers features to safeguard the panel and that a custom heatsink provides passive cooling to reduce the risk of burn-in. ROG's OLED anti-flicker technology aims to reduce flicker when the refresh rate fluctuates. Reading the warranty terms for OLED panels is a reasonable step.
Motion and extras
Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) is ASUS's technology for crisper motion in fast games. The monitor is G-SYNC compatible, which helps match the screen to the graphics card's frame rate. It also has an AI assistant and DisplayWidget software for adjusting settings.
In the box
The listing includes a USB 3.2 cable, DisplayPort cable, HDMI Ultra High-Speed cable, microfibre cloth, power cord and adapter, ROG pouch and sticker, VESA mount kit, warranty card, colour pre-calibration report and quick start guide.
Size
The monitor measures 10.8 x 23.8 x 21.6 in with its stand and weighs 13.7 lb. The VESA mount kit lets you attach it to an arm, if your desk setup calls for that.
Who it suits
Competitive players who want very high refresh rates, and people who value OLED contrast and colour in a QHD monitor, are the likeliest audience. A PC that can feed it high frame rates is the main requirement.
What to check before you buy
- Graphics card: can your PC reach high frame rates at 1440p?
- Ports: check your card's DisplayPort or HDMI version against what 480Hz needs.
- Desk: check depth and height for the stand, or plan an arm.
- Static content: if you leave a desktop on for long hours, read the care guidance.
- Warranty: read the terms for the panel.
