The ASUS ROG Strix XG34WCDG is a 34-inch ultrawide gaming monitor that uses a QD-OLED panel. It has a 3440 x 1440 resolution, a 175Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms response time. ASUS also builds in features meant to protect an OLED screen over the long term.
What QD-OLED and ultrawide mean
In an OLED display, each pixel produces its own light, so a pixel can switch fully off to show true black. QD-OLED adds a quantum-dot layer, which is designed to produce vivid, pure colours. Ultrawide here means a 21:9-style shape with 3440 x 1440 pixels, giving extra horizontal room for games, timelines in video editors or several windows side by side.
Speed: 175Hz and 0.03ms
A 175Hz refresh rate means the screen can update 175 times a second, which makes motion look smoother when your graphics card can supply that many frames. The 0.03ms response time is ASUS's figure for how quickly pixels change colour, and OLED pixels typically switch much faster than LCD. The monitor is also G-SYNC Compatible, so it can sync its refresh rate to compatible NVIDIA graphics cards to reduce tearing. ASUS also lists Extreme Low Motion Blur.
Colour and HDR
The listing gives VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black compliance, 99.3% DCI-P3 colour coverage, true 10-bit colour and a Delta E below 2. DCI-P3 is a wide colour space used in film, 10-bit colour allows smoother gradients, and a low Delta E means colours are close to accurate. ASUS says this makes the monitor suitable for photo and video editing as well as gaming.
OLED Care Pro
OLED screens can suffer burn-in if a static image stays on for long periods. ASUS describes OLED Care Pro as a group of features to reduce that risk. The Neo Proximity Sensor detects when you are away and switches to a black screen. The DisplayWidget Center app lets you reach these settings and change monitor settings with a mouse instead of the on-screen buttons. ASUS also lists ROG Gaming A.I. features.
In the box and warranty
The package includes a DisplayPort cable, a USB Type-B to A cable, a power cord, a ROG pouch, a sticker, a quick start guide and a warranty card. The title mentions a three-year warranty, so check the terms that apply where you buy.
Size
The monitor measures about 31.9 inches wide and 21.5 inches high including the stand (81 x 55 cm), is 7.8 inches deep, and weighs about 18.3 lb (8.3 kg).
Who it suits
It suits gamers who want deep blacks and fast motion, and creators who want wide colour coverage and a wide workspace.
