The ASUS ROG Strix XG32UCWG is a 32-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor that can switch between two modes: sharp 4K at 165Hz, or Full HD at a very fast 330Hz. It is aimed at players and creators who want deep blacks and high detail on one screen. Here is what the specs mean.
What a WOLED panel does
OLED screens light each pixel individually, so a black pixel can switch off entirely. The result is very deep blacks and strong contrast, which is why OLED is popular for games and films. This model uses a WOLED panel, a white OLED design with colour filters. ASUS calls its surface TrueBlack Glossy and says it gives a zero-haze finish with exceptionally sharp imagery. Glossy panels typically look richer but can show reflections, so room lighting matters.
Dual mode: 4K or 330Hz
The screen is 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K). In dual mode you can pick 4K at 165Hz, which suits detailed single-player games, video and creative work, or Full HD at 330Hz, which suits fast competitive games where a high refresh rate matters more than sharpness. ASUS also lists a 0.03ms response time, which describes how quickly pixels change. G-SYNC compatibility helps the display follow the frame rate of a compatible graphics card. Driving 4K at 165Hz takes a powerful graphics card.
HDR and colour
The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black compliant, with 99% DCI-P3 coverage, true 10-bit colour and a Delta E under 2. DCI-P3 is a wide colour space used in cinema, and a Delta E below 2 means colour errors are generally hard to see. ASUS says this makes it suitable for photo and video editing.
OLED care features
OLED panels can suffer burn-in if a static image stays on screen for a long time. ASUS OLED Care Pro includes a Neo Proximity Sensor that detects when you are away and switches the screen to black to reduce the risk of burn-in. The DisplayWidget Center software gives mouse control over these functions and the monitor's settings. Check the manual for the other care features and sensible habits.
Connections and gaming extras
Inputs are DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, HDMI 2.1 and USB-C with 15W Power Delivery. HDMI 2.1 is the version that carries 4K at high refresh rates on modern consoles and graphics cards. The listing also mentions Auto KVM, which lets one keyboard and mouse switch between connected computers. An AI Assistant adds Dynamic Crosshair, Dynamic Shadow Boost and AI Visual functions.
Stand and in the box
ASUS describes a compact stand that takes up minimal desk space. The monitor measures 10.8 x 28.1 x 22.8 inches and weighs 16.1 lb (about 7.3 kg). The box holds a DisplayPort cable, a USB 3.2 cable, a power cord and adapter, a microfibre cloth, a ROG pouch, a ROG sticker, a VESA mount kit, a quick-release stand, a quick start guide and a warranty card. A three-year warranty is listed.
Who it suits
It suits players with a powerful PC or a console with HDMI 2.1 who want 4K detail and fast refresh rates, and creators who want a wide-gamut screen with high contrast.
What to check before you buy
- Your graphics card: make sure it can output 4K at high refresh over DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1.
- Room lighting: a glossy panel can show reflections in bright rooms.
- Static content: if you leave static windows or toolbars on screen for long hours, read the manual on burn-in care.
- Desk space: about 28 inches wide with the stand.
- USB-C charging: 15W will not power most laptops.
- Mounting: the VESA kit is included; check which pattern your arm needs.
