The ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMG is a gaming monitor built around a third-generation WOLED panel at 2560 x 1440 resolution. It combines a 240 Hz refresh rate with a quoted 0.03 ms response time, aimed at fast games where motion clarity matters.
What a WOLED panel changes
In an OLED display, each pixel produces its own light, so a black pixel can switch off entirely. That typically gives deep blacks and strong contrast compared with a conventional backlit LCD. The XG27AQDMG uses a white OLED (WOLED) design with a glossy coating. ASUS says the third generation brings brighter full white windows, clearer text and improved motion clarity. A glossy finish usually makes colours look richer, but it can show reflections in a bright room.
1440p, 240 Hz and 0.03 ms in practice
The panel measures 26.5 inches, sold as a 27-inch class monitor, with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440. This sits between Full HD and 4K and is a common choice for high-refresh gaming because a graphics card can reach high frame rates more easily than at 4K. The 240 Hz refresh rate means the image updates 240 times a second, though you need a PC capable of producing frames that quickly to see the benefit. The 0.03 ms figure is a grey-to-grey response time, which ASUS quotes as a lab measure. The monitor is listed as G-SYNC Compatible and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Heat and burn-in care
OLED panels can suffer from image retention if a static image stays on screen for a long time. ASUS says the monitor's large custom heatsink and advanced airflow design handle heat, and that ASUS OLED Care functions reduce the risk of burn-in. The DisplayWidget Center software lets you reach those functions and change settings with a mouse, instead of using on-screen buttons. An optional uniform brightness setting keeps luminance consistent.
Anti-flicker
When a game's frame rate fluctuates, variable refresh rate on OLED can cause visible flicker. ASUS lists ROG-exclusive OLED Anti-flicker technology to reduce this during refresh-rate changes.
In the box
ASUS lists a USB 3.2 cable, DisplayPort cable, HDMI cable, power cord and adapter, ROG pouch, ROG sticker, microfibre cloth, VESA mount kit, quick start guide and warranty card. A three-year warranty is mentioned in the title.
Who it suits
It fits PC gamers who want a fast, high-contrast screen at 1440p and who have a graphics card able to drive high frame rates. People who mostly display static work content for many hours a day should read the OLED care guidance first.
What to check before you buy
- Confirm your graphics card has a DisplayPort or HDMI output capable of 1440p at 240 Hz.
- Check your desk depth and height, since the listing gives 8.6 x 23.8 x 20.0 inches and 14.8 lb.
- Think about room lighting, given the glossy panel.
- Look at your usual use: long static desktop layouts need the OLED Care settings.
- Check VESA mount compatibility if you plan to use an arm.
- Read the warranty terms for panel-related issues.
