The ASUS ProArt X670E-CREATOR WiFi is an ATX motherboard for AMD Ryzen processors on the AM5 socket. It is aimed at content creators, with dual USB4 ports, 10Gb and 2.5Gb Ethernet, WiFi 6E, four M.2 slots and a 16+2 power design. Its styling uses black and metallic gold with a translucent I/O cover.
Socket and processors
The AM5 socket supports AMD Ryzen Desktop 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series processors. ASUS notes that a BIOS update may be needed for the 9000 and 8000 Series, which matters if your board shipped with an older BIOS. The board takes DDR5 memory, so modules from DDR4 systems can't be reused.
Power delivery
ASUS lists 16+2 teamed power stages, ProCool power connectors, alloy chokes and durable capacitors. Strong power delivery is most relevant with high-core-count processors, particularly in long workloads such as rendering. It also gives more headroom for overclocking, which ASUS supports through AI Overclocking, Dynamic OC Switcher and Ryzen Core Flex.
Connectivity for creative work
The ports are a headline feature. There are two USB4 ports, which are based on the same technology as Thunderbolt and can carry fast data and video, plus 10Gb and 2.5Gb Ethernet, WiFi 6E, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 front-panel connector with Quick Charge 4+. A 10Gb connection is useful with a network storage server or a fast switch, but requires the rest of the network to support it. WiFi 6E adds the 6GHz band if your router supports it.
For storage, the board has four M.2 slots: two PCIe 5.0 and two PCIe 4.0. PCIe 5.0 SSDs offer very high bandwidth, but they are mainly useful for heavy file transfer work.
DIY-friendly features
ASUS lists PCIe Slot Q-Release, M.2 Q-Latch, SafeSlot, SafeDIMM, a pre-mounted I/O shield, Q-Connector and BIOS FlashBack. FlashBack lets you update the BIOS by putting a file on a FAT32 USB stick and pressing a button, even with no memory or CPU installed. That is helpful when a new processor needs a newer BIOS than the one on the board.
ProArt extras
The ProArt software suite includes Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation for clearer online calls and ProArt Creator Hub with CreationFirst for system control in one place.
Size
The board is a full ATX size, listed at 4.5 lb (about 2 kg) packaged, so it needs a case that supports ATX.
What to check before you buy
- Processor and BIOS: confirm that your CPU is supported and whether a BIOS update is needed first.
- Memory: it needs DDR5, so check the type and speed you plan to buy.
- Network: 10Gb Ethernet only pays off if your switch, cables and other devices support it.
- Storage: check which M.2 slots share bandwidth or disable other ports, using the manual.
- Case and cooler: check ATX support and cooler clearance.
- Power supply: make sure the connectors match the board and processor.
The short version
