The ASUS ProArt Display PA34VCNV is a 34-inch curved ultrawide monitor built for creative and office work. It combines a colour-calibrated IPS panel with a USB-C dock, so one cable can carry the picture, power a laptop and link it to a wired network. Here is what the main specifications mean.
What 21:9 and 3440 x 1440 give you
The panel has a 21:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3440 x 1440. Compared with a typical 16:9 monitor, it is noticeably wider, which gives room to line up two documents or a timeline and a preview side by side. At 34.1 inches, the pixel density is moderate, so text is comfortable to read at normal desk distance without heavy scaling.
The 3800R curve means the screen follows a circle with a radius of 3,800 mm. It is a gentle curve, intended to keep the edges at a similar distance from your eyes as the centre. ASUS also describes a frameless design, which keeps the visible border slim.
Colour accuracy
ASUS lists 100% sRGB and 100% Rec. 709 coverage. sRGB is the standard colour space for most web content and many photos, while Rec. 709 is the standard for HD video. The monitor is factory calibrated to a Delta E below 2, and ASUS says it is Calman Verified. Delta E measures how far a displayed colour is from the intended one; values under 2 are generally regarded as difficult to tell apart by eye. Work that needs wider gamuts, such as DCI-P3 video grading, usually calls for a different display.
One-cable connectivity
DisplayPort over USB-C supports 96W Power Delivery, which is enough to charge many laptops while they send video to the screen. The monitor also has HDMI, DisplayPort daisy-chaining, a USB hub and an RJ45 LAN port. The LAN port is useful on laptops with no built-in Ethernet, since the wired connection runs through the same USB-C cable. Whether a given laptop supports video, charging and data over USB-C depends on the laptop, so check its specifications.
Ergonomics
The stand offers tilt, swivel and height adjustment, so you can set the screen to eye level. A taller, wider screen is more comfortable when it sits an arm's length away with the top edge near eye height.
Packaging and the box
ASUS says it uses paper packaging and energy-efficient standards. In the box are a DisplayPort cable, an HDMI cable, a USB-C cable, a power cord, a quick start guide and a warranty card. The monitor weighs 23.8 lb (about 10.8 kg), and the listing gives a three-year warranty.
Who it suits
The monitor suits photographers, designers, video editors and office users who want a wide workspace and a tidy single-cable desk. People who mostly game may look for features this listing does not mention, such as a high refresh rate.
What to check before you buy
- Desk space: the monitor is about 34 inches wide, so measure your desk and any monitor arm.
- Laptop support: confirm that your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort video and power delivery.
- Power needs: 96W may not fully power a laptop that needs a larger charger.
- Graphics capability: check that your computer can drive 3440 x 1440.
- Colour needs: sRGB and Rec. 709 suit web and HD video, not wider-gamut workflows.
- Warranty terms: read the warranty card for what is covered.
