The ASUS ProArt Display PA32UCDM is a 31.5-inch 4K monitor that uses a QD-OLED panel. ASUS designed it for professional content creators who need accurate colour, HDR support and high refresh rates on one screen. Here is what its specs mean in practice.

QD-OLED and 4K

OLED panels make their own light pixel by pixel, so a black pixel can switch off completely. QD-OLED adds a quantum dot layer, which ASUS says widens the colour range. The screen resolution is 3840 x 2160, and at 31.5 inches this gives a sharp image that has room for timelines, toolbars and previews. ASUS lists a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.1ms (GTG) response time, which suits fast-moving content and checking game or animation work.

Brightness and HDR

ASUS rates peak brightness at 1000 nits and certifies the panel for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400. The True Black tier is designed for OLED, where deep blacks matter more than extreme brightness. The monitor supports Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10, so it can display the main HDR formats used for film, broadcast and streaming grading. Peak brightness typically applies to small areas of the picture rather than a full white screen.

Colour accuracy

The listing mentions true 10-bit colour depth, with 100% sRGB, 99% DCI-P3 and BT.2020 coverage. ASUS also claims ΔE below 1; Delta E measures the difference between displayed and intended colour, and below 1 is generally too small for most people to see. ProArt Hardware Calibration lets you calibrate the monitor and write the colour profile back to it, and the monitor is listed as Calman Ready, meaning it works with that calibration software. A colour pre-calibration report comes in the box.

Connections

There are dual Thunderbolt 4 ports with up to 96W power delivery and daisy-chaining, plus HDMI 2.1 and a built-in USB hub. In general, one Thunderbolt cable can carry video, data and charging for a compatible laptop, which keeps a desk tidy. Check that your laptop supports Thunderbolt or USB-C video output.

Design and ergonomics

The display is ultra-slim, at roughly 1.7 inches deep, and weighs 19.8 lb (about 9 kg). The stand offers tilt, pivot and height adjustment, and the stand attaches with a quick-release mechanism. ASUS packages the product in paper and cites energy-efficient environmental standards.

What's in the box

Thunderbolt 4 cable, HDMI Ultra High-Speed cable, partition hook, power cord, quick-release stand, colour pre-calibration report, quick start guide, warranty card and welcome card. ASUS lists a three-year warranty.

Who it suits

It suits photographers, video editors, colourists and designers who need wide gamut and HDR monitoring, and creators who also want a fast refresh rate for game or motion work. For purely office use, a simpler monitor may be enough.

What to check before you buy

  • Computer capability: confirm your computer can output 4K at the refresh rate you want, and has Thunderbolt or compatible ports.
  • Desk space: about 28 inches wide; check the stand depth and height.
  • Calibration needs: hardware calibration needs compatible software and a measuring device.
  • OLED care: read the manual's guidance on static images and screen care.
  • Room lighting: glossy OLED screens can show reflections in bright rooms.
  • Warranty: confirm terms in your region.
