The ASUS ProArt PA32DC is a 31.5-inch 4K OLED monitor made for colour-critical work such as photo editing, video grading and design. Its distinguishing feature is a built-in motorised colorimeter that lets the monitor calibrate itself.
The OLED panel
The screen is 3840 x 2160 (4K) with an RGB-stripe OLED panel. Each pixel in an OLED emits its own light, so black pixels can switch off entirely. ASUS quotes a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and says that gives deep blacks and accurate highlights. RGB stripes refer to the sub-pixel arrangement, which typically gives sharper text and fine detail than some other OLED layouts.
Colour accuracy
The monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, which is the standard for digital cinema and a common target for video work. It offers true 10-bit colour depth, meaning more gradations between shades and smoother gradients. HDR support includes HDR10 and HLG. The listing's title also states a colour accuracy of ΔE<1; in general, lower ΔE values mean the displayed colour sits closer to the intended one.
Built-in colorimeter and auto calibration
A colorimeter measures what the screen is actually showing, and displays drift over time, so periodic calibration keeps colours consistent. Here the colorimeter is built into the bezel and flips out on a motor. ASUS Auto Calibration works with ASUS ProArt Calibration software, and the monitor is also listed as working with Calman and Light Illusion ColourSpace professional calibration software.
Uniform Brightness
An optional Uniform Brightness function in the on-screen menu keeps brightness consistent, up to 250 nits, when you change windows or switch between content with very different contrast levels. OLED brightness can otherwise vary with how much of the screen is lit.
Connections
The monitor has a full-function USB-C port, DisplayPort 1.4 and three HDMI (v2.0) inputs, along with an earphone jack, and it can act as a USB hub. A USB-C port that carries video and data suits a single-cable laptop setup.
Size and weight
The listing gives dimensions of about 9.6 x 28.6 x 19.5 inches (24 x 73 x 50 cm) and 26.8 lb (about 12 kg), so plan for a sturdy desk.
Who it suits
It suits photographers, video editors and designers who want a large 4K OLED display with on-board calibration instead of a separate device.
