The ASUS ProArt Display PA329CRV is a 31.5-inch 4K monitor designed for video editors, photographers and designers who need colours they can trust. It combines a wide-gamut IPS panel, factory calibration and a USB-C connection that can charge a laptop, all through a single cable.

Panel and resolution

The screen is an IPS panel with 178° wide viewing angles and a 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD) resolution. IPS panels typically hold colour and brightness well when seen from the side, which matters when more than one person looks at the screen. On a 31.5-inch panel, 4K gives fine detail for editing and plenty of room for timelines and toolbars.

Colour accuracy

ASUS lists 98% DCI-P3 coverage. DCI-P3 is the colour space used in digital cinema, wider than standard sRGB, so a display covering most of it can show richer reds and greens. The monitor is factory calibrated to a Delta E below 2 and is Calman Verified. Delta E measures the difference between the colour requested and the one shown; values under 2 are typically too small for most people to see. Colour-critical work still benefits from periodic re-calibration with a measuring device.

HDR

It carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. That is the entry tier of the DisplayHDR scheme, so expect a modest HDR lift rather than the punch of higher tiers.

One-cable connectivity

The USB-C port supports DisplayPort over USB-C with 96W Power Delivery. A compatible laptop can receive video, data and charging through one cable, and 96W covers many laptop chargers, although the laptop needs to support it. The monitor also has DisplayPort with MST (Multi-Stream Transport), HDMI and a USB hub. MST enables daisy-chaining, where a second compatible monitor connects through the first, reducing cable clutter at the desk.

Size and desk space

With its stand, the monitor measures about 28.1 x 9.4 x 19.2 inches and weighs 21.8 lb (about 9.9 kg). Check your desk depth and whether you want the stand or a VESA mount arm.

Who it suits

It suits video editors, photographers and designers working in P3 or sRGB, and anyone who wants a single-cable docking setup for a laptop. Casual users who do not need accurate colour may not use the features it is built around.

What to check before you buy

  • Your computer's output: confirm it supports DisplayPort over USB-C and the power it can accept.
  • Graphics capability: driving 4K needs a suitable graphics output and cable.
  • Workflow: check your editing software's colour management with the display.
  • Daisy-chaining: it requires a source and second monitor with MST support.
  • Refresh rate: gaming-oriented high refresh rates are not part of the listing's features.
  • Software offers: the Adobe Creative Cloud offer in the listing had set validity dates; check the current terms.
  • Space: measure the desk and check the stand adjustments in the manual.
