The ASUS ProArt PA27DCE-K is a 26.9-inch 4K monitor built around an OLED panel and aimed at people who work with colour: photographers, video editors and designers. It pairs a wide colour gamut with factory colour accuracy, hardware calibration and a single-cable USB-C connection. Here is what those specifications mean in practice.

What an RGB-stripe OLED panel brings

In an OLED display, each pixel produces its own light, so a pixel that should be black can switch off completely. ASUS quotes a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and says this gives deep blacks and accurate highlights. The panel has "pure RGB stripes", meaning the red, green and blue subpixels are arranged in the traditional stripe pattern. In general, that layout tends to give crisp fine text and thin lines compared with some other OLED subpixel layouts.

The resolution is 3840 x 2160. On a screen of about 27 inches, that is a dense pixel count, which is why detail in photos and video looks sharp.

Colour coverage and accuracy

The monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 gamut, the colour space used in digital cinema and increasingly in photo and video work. It offers true 10-bit colour depth, which allows over a billion colour values and typically gives smoother gradients than 8-bit panels.

ASUS rates colour accuracy at ΔE below 1. Delta E is a measure of the difference between the colour shown and the intended colour; values under 1 are generally considered very hard to tell apart by eye. The monitor ships with a colour pre-calibration report.

HDR and calibration tools

The monitor supports HDR10 and HLG, two common HDR formats for video and broadcast. ASUS also lists ProArt Hardware Calibration, which lets a calibration tool adjust the monitor's own internal settings and write the colour profile back to the display, rather than relying only on a software profile on the computer. The monitor is listed as Calman Ready, meaning it works with that calibration software.

The box includes an X-rite i1 Display Pro calibrator, so the tools for regular recalibration come with the monitor.

One cable for video, data and power

The USB-C port carries a DisplayPort video signal, data and up to 80W of power delivery. With a compatible laptop, one cable can show the picture, connect accessories and charge the laptop. Whether a laptop can do all three depends on its own USB-C port, so it is worth checking. A DisplayPort cable, an HDMI cable, a USB-C cable and a power cord are also in the box.

Size, stand and setup

The monitor with its quick-release stand measures about 24.6 x 10.4 x 17.3 inches (62 x 26 x 44 cm) and weighs 20.7 lb (about 9.4 kg). ASUS also lists a three-month Adobe Creative Cloud offer, valid until 8/31/2026 according to the listing, so check whether it still applies.

Who it suits

It suits photographers, video colourists, illustrators and designers who want accurate colour at a compact 27-inch size, and who will use the calibrator and calibration software. Anyone who mainly browses, writes documents or plays games may not need this level of colour tooling.

What to check before you buy

  • Your computer's ports: confirm that its USB-C port supports DisplayPort video and can accept power from the monitor, or use the HDMI or DisplayPort cables instead.
  • Graphics support: driving 4K at 10-bit colour and HDR needs a computer and graphics hardware that support it.
  • Workflow: check that your calibration or editing software works with the hardware calibration and the HDR formats you use.
  • Desk space: check the depth and height of the stand against your desk and any monitor arm.
  • OLED care: read the manual on static images and screen-care features, which are typical considerations for OLED screens.
  • Promotions: the Adobe offer has an end date, so confirm it before counting on it.
