The ASUS ProArt PA278QV is a 27-inch WQHD monitor aimed at photographers, video editors and designers who need accurate colour. It uses an IPS panel, covers the sRGB and Rec. 709 colour standards and comes calibrated at the factory. This version is sold renewed, meaning pre-owned or refurbished. Here is what the specs mean.
What WQHD means at 27 inches
WQHD is 2560 x 1440 pixels, sometimes called 1440p. On a 27-inch screen it gives noticeably more working space than Full HD and sharper text and images, without the scaling that 4K screens often need. For many editing and office tasks, it is a common balance between detail and ease of use.
IPS panel and frameless design
IPS panels are known for wide viewing angles and consistent colour across the screen, which matters when you are judging photos or video. ASUS describes the design as frameless, which keeps the edges slim and suits side-by-side setups.
Colour coverage and accuracy
ASUS lists 100% sRGB and 100% Rec. 709 coverage. sRGB is the standard for most web and screen content, and Rec. 709 is the standard for HD video. A monitor covering both fully is well matched to those workflows, though it is not aimed at wider gamuts such as those used in some print and cinema work.
The monitor is Calman Verified with factory calibration, with ASUS quoting a Delta E under 2. Delta E measures colour error, and values under 2 are generally regarded as hard to see by eye. Calibration drifts over time, so professionals often re-check it with a measuring device.
ProArt Preset and ProArt Palette
Two ASUS tools let you adjust the display. ProArt Preset offers modes for different tasks, and ProArt Palette provides adjustable colour parameters, such as brightness, contrast, hue and saturation, as the brand describes.
Connections
The monitor has Mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, HDMI and dual-link DVI-D inputs, an audio-in jack, an earphone jack and four USB 3.0 ports. That range covers modern graphics cards, laptops and older equipment. Check which cable your computer needs.
Stand and mounting
The stand tilts, swivels, pivots and adjusts in height. Pivot means you can rotate the screen to portrait, handy for documents or code. The monitor is VESA wall-mountable for use with an arm or bracket. It measures about 24.2 x 14.6 inches with a depth of 2.0 inches and weighs 17.0 lb.
About the renewed condition
The listing says the product has been professionally inspected and tested to work and look like new. Renewed items vary in cosmetic condition and warranty terms, so read the seller's terms. The input voltage is 100-240V.
