The ASUS ProArt PA247CV is a 23.8-inch monitor aimed at people who care about colour accuracy, such as photographers, video editors and designers. It combines a Full HD IPS panel, factory calibration and a USB-C connection that can charge a laptop. Here is what those features mean.
Panel and resolution
The screen is a 23.8-inch IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution and an LED backlight. At this size, Full HD gives a pixel density that is comfortable for office work and editing, though text is less sharp than on higher-resolution screens. IPS panels typically keep colours and brightness consistent from the side, and ASUS lists a 178° viewing angle.
Colour accuracy
ASUS lists 100% sRGB and 100% Rec. 709 coverage. sRGB is the standard colour space for the web and most photos, and Rec. 709 is the standard for HD video, so the monitor covers the ranges most everyday creative work uses. It is not a wide-gamut screen for print or cinema colour spaces such as DCI-P3.
The monitor is Calman Verified and factory calibrated to a Delta E below 2. Delta E measures the difference between displayed and intended colours, and a value under 2 is generally hard to see by eye. A calibration report is included in the box. Colours can drift over time, so professional users often recalibrate with a colorimeter.
Refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync
The refresh rate is 75Hz, with Adaptive-Sync across 48 to 75Hz. A higher refresh rate than the common 60Hz makes motion a little smoother, and Adaptive-Sync matches the screen to the graphics card's frame rate to reduce tearing. Fast gaming is not this monitor's main purpose, but the feature is useful.
Connections
Inputs include DisplayPort over USB-C with 65W Power Delivery, DisplayPort, HDMI and a USB 3.1 hub. With a compatible laptop, one USB-C cable can carry the picture and charge the laptop. The 65W figure suits many thin laptops, but a laptop needing more power would charge slowly or not at all. The DisplayPort connection also supports daisy-chaining up to four monitors, which ASUS says suits a multi-display workstation. Check the manual for which models and settings support this.
Ergonomics and eye care
The stand tilts from +35° to -5°, swivels ±90°, pivots ±90° into portrait orientation and adjusts in height by 130mm. ASUS Eye Care includes TÜV Rheinland-certified flicker-free and low blue light technologies, aimed at long working sessions.
In the box
DisplayPort, HDMI and USB Type-C cables, a power cord, a warranty card, a quick start guide, a calibration report and a welcome card.
Who it suits
It suits colour-sensitive desk work in sRGB or Rec. 709, and people who want a single-cable laptop setup. It is less suited to those wanting a larger or higher-resolution screen.
