The ASUS ProArt PA148CTV is a 14-inch portable monitor with a touchscreen, designed for creators who want a second screen that travels with a laptop. It weighs 1.6 lb (about 0.7 kg) and is about 0.5 inches (roughly 1.3 cm) thick, so it slips into a bag beside the computer. Here is what its specs mean and what to check before you connect it.
The panel: size, resolution and viewing angle
The screen is a 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS panel with an anti-glare finish and a 16:9 aspect ratio. IPS panels typically hold their colour and contrast when seen from the side, and ASUS rates the viewing angle at 178° both horizontally and vertically. The brightness is listed at 300 cd/m² (typical), which is a common figure for indoor use. Anti-glare coatings cut reflections, though in direct sunlight any laptop-sized screen can be hard to read.
Colour accuracy for creative work
ASUS says the monitor covers 100% of the sRGB and Rec. 709 colour spaces. sRGB is the standard for most web and photo work, and Rec. 709 is the standard for HD video. The brand also lists a factory pre-calibrated Delta E below 2 and Calman Verified status. Delta E measures how far a displayed colour is from the intended one; lower numbers mean smaller differences, and values under 2 are generally hard to see by eye. These are the brand's figures, and a hardware calibrator is still the usual route for work where exact colour matters.
Touch, stand and controls
The panel supports capacitive 10-point multitouch, the same kind of touch used on phones, so it can respond to several fingers at once. That suits sketching, scrubbing a timeline or tapping through an app. Touch usually needs a compatible operating system and driver support, so check your computer's documentation.
A metal kickstand holds the monitor upright, and a tripod socket lets you mount it on a standard tripod or arm. Settings are handled through the on-screen menu, which ASUS says you operate with its ASUS Dial.
Ports and power
There are two USB Type-C ports that support DisplayPort Alternate Mode, plus one Micro HDMI port. A single USB-C cable can often carry both video and power from a laptop, if that laptop's USB-C port supports video output. Otherwise the Micro HDMI input is the fallback, with the monitor drawing power from another USB-C source. The title also mentions USB-C Power Delivery, which in general means the monitor can take in power through its USB-C port.
Eye care features
ASUS lists TÜV Rheinland-certified Flicker-free and Low Blue Light technologies on this model, and describes them as aimed at a comfortable viewing experience.
Who it suits
It suits photographers, video editors and illustrators who want a compact second screen, travellers who work from a laptop, and anyone who likes a touch surface for sketching or quick controls.
What to check before you buy
- Your computer's ports: confirm that a USB-C port supports video output, or that you have a way to use Micro HDMI.
- Cables: check what is in the box and whether the cable length suits your desk.
- Power: a laptop's USB-C port may supply limited power, so read both manuals for how the screen will be powered.
- Touch support: confirm that your operating system supports external touchscreens.
- Size: 14 inches is compact; check that it fits your workflow.
