The ASUS ProArt B760-CREATOR D4 is an ATX motherboard for building a desktop PC around a 12th or 13th Gen Intel Core processor. It is aimed at content creators, so it puts storage, networking and cooling features front and centre. Here is what its main specifications mean and what to confirm before planning a build around it.
Socket, memory and what "D4" means
The board uses the Intel LGA 1700 socket, which ASUS says is ready for 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core processors. The "D4" in the name points to DDR4 memory. DDR4 and DDR5 modules are not interchangeable, so a board like this works only with DDR4 sticks. If you already own DDR4, that can be a reason to choose it; if you plan to buy new memory, check which type your chosen board expects.
ASUS also says the board is ready for Windows 11 out of the box.
PCIe 5.0 and three M.2 slots
ASUS lists PCIe 5.0 support. PCIe is the connection used by graphics cards and fast storage, and each generation roughly doubles the bandwidth of the one before. In practice, a PCIe 5.0 slot gives a future graphics card room to grow, even though many current cards do not saturate the older standard.
Three M.2 slots let you fit several NVMe solid-state drives without adding cards. Creators often split work this way: one drive for the system and software, another for active projects, and a third for scratch files or archives. ASUS fits aluminium heatsinks over the M.2 slots, which typically helps fast drives hold their speed under long transfers.
Networking and front-panel connectivity
Two network ports are fitted: 2.5 Gb and 1 Gb Ethernet. Having two can be useful for separating a fast link to a network storage box from ordinary internet traffic. The board also has a front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C connector, which supports up to 20 Gbps when the case has a matching front port, and a Thunderbolt (USB4) header. ASUS's description mentions Thunderbolt 4. A header like this normally needs a separate add-in card to provide the actual ports, so check what is included.
Power delivery and cooling
ASUS describes 12+1 power stages rated for 50 amps. Power stages feed clean, stable current to the processor, and a stronger design typically gives more headroom for sustained loads such as video rendering. A large heatsink covers the voltage regulator and chipset.
For cooling, there are six 4-pin PWM fan headers and an AIO pump header, so you can connect case fans and a liquid cooler's pump separately and control them from the board.
Creator software and audio
ASUS includes Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation, intended to give clearer voice on online calls by reducing background noise on both the microphone and speaker sides. ProArt Creator Hub with CreationFirst is the software layer for monitoring and controlling the system from one place.
Who it suits
It fits someone building a workstation for editing, design or 3D work on Intel's 12th or 13th Gen chips who wants several drives, fast wired networking and good cooling options. It is a full ATX board, so it needs a case of that size.
What to check before you buy
- Processor: confirm your exact CPU is supported on this socket, and whether a BIOS update is needed for it.
- Memory: it takes DDR4 only, so check any modules you plan to reuse.
- Case: ATX size (about 13.5 x 10.8 inches as listed); check the case supports it.
- Thunderbolt: confirm whether you need an add-in card for the header.
- Storage: check the M.2 slot sizes and which ones share bandwidth, as the manual describes.
- Cooler: make sure your cooler's mounting fits LGA 1700.
