The ASUS Prime H610M-E D4-CSM is a compact micro-ATX motherboard for Intel's LGA 1700 socket. It uses DDR4 memory and has HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, an M.2 slot, 1Gb Ethernet and USB 3.2 Gen 1. The "CSM" in the name marks it as one of ASUS's commercial models, aimed at business and managed-IT use.
Socket and processors
The LGA 1700 socket supports 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron processors, according to ASUS. The H610 chipset is a basic one, so it suits mainstream builds rather than overclocking. Check the supported CPU list on the maker's website for your exact processor and the BIOS version needed.
DDR4 memory
The "D4" in the model name means DDR4 memory. DDR4 and DDR5 modules are physically different and can't be swapped, so this board suits builders who already have DDR4 or want to use it. Check the supported speeds and the maximum capacity in the manual.
Storage and connectivity
ASUS lists a 32Gbps M.2 slot, which is PCIe 4.0 x4 in general terms and suitable for an NVMe SSD. Other connections are Realtek 1Gb Ethernet and USB 3.2 Gen 1. With HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs, the board can run a monitor from the processor's integrated graphics, which is common in office desktops. Count the ports against your needs, as a compact board has fewer than a larger one.
What "commercial" means here
The CSM label stands for Corporate Stable Model. ASUS says that means a 12-month supply commitment, with end-of-life notices and engineering change notification (ECN) control. For an organisation buying many identical machines, this makes it easier to keep a standard configuration over time.
Software for managing machines includes ASUS Control Center Express (ACCE) for IT endpoint management and an ASUS Event log that captures and manages detailed system information. ASUS describes the board as offering system protection and 24/7 stability and reliability.
Cooling
There's a PCH heatsink and Fan Xpert 2+ software for managing fan speeds. For a processor with modest power needs, that is typically enough alongside a suitable CPU cooler and a case with airflow.
Size and weight
A micro-ATX board is smaller than a full ATX one, listed at about 9.6 x 8.3 inches and 1.1 lb (about 0.5 kg). It fits micro-ATX cases and most ATX cases with the right standoffs.
Who it suits
It suits office and business desktops, small-form builds, and straightforward home PCs that use integrated graphics or one add-in card.
What to check before you buy
- Processor: confirm the CPU is supported and whether a BIOS update is needed.
- Memory: it takes DDR4 only.
- Case: check that your case supports micro-ATX.
- Expansion: compare the number of PCIe slots, M.2 slots and SATA ports with your plans.
- Display: check that your monitor works with HDMI or DisplayPort.
- Wireless: the listing doesn't mention built-in WiFi, so you may need a card or adapter.
- Management tools: ACCE is for IT teams, so check how you'll use it.
