The ASUS NUC 13 Pro Tall (model RNUC13ANHI70000UI) is a barebone mini PC built around a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1360P processor. The case measures just 4.6 x 4.4 x 2.1 inches and weighs 1.3 lb. "Barebone" means you add your own memory, storage and operating system. It is designed for compact desktops, digital signage and small business uses.
What barebone means
A barebone kit includes the case, motherboard and processor but usually not RAM, a drive or Windows. That gives you control over how much memory and storage to install, with support listed for up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. It also means you must supply and install those parts, and confirm their compatibility, before it will run.
Processor and graphics
The Core i7-1360P is a mobile-class processor, typically designed for good performance at low power. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics handle the display output, everyday office work, video playback and light creative work. They are not designed for demanding modern games.
A very small footprint
The 4x4 form factor is small enough to sit behind a monitor. The included VESA mount lets you attach it to the back of a compatible screen or to a wall, which keeps the desk clear. This makes a small NUC useful for reception desks, meeting rooms and kiosks.
Displays and connectivity
ASUS lists support for up to one 8K or four 4K displays at 60Hz, using dual HDMI and dual DisplayPort over Thunderbolt 4 Type-C. Other connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Thunderbolt 4 is a high-speed USB-C port that can carry data, video and, depending on the device, power.
Storage and expansion
The listing describes a triple storage design and an internal expansion bay for additional storage, or an add-on module that provides extra I/O ports. Check the manual for the exact drive types, sizes and the order in which they are supported.
Running all day
ASUS says the NUC is qualified for 24/7 operation. It also includes a Kensington Lock slot and a cable-locking arm for physical security, which is useful where a device is left in public spaces.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a small Windows or Linux desktop, shared office computers, digital signage or a home media or work machine. If you want a ready-to-use computer out of the box, a system with memory, storage and software included will be simpler.
What to check before you buy
- Memory type and storage: you will need DDR4 SODIMM memory and drives that fit.
- The operating system: you need your own licence and installation media.
- The display connections you need, and any adapters.
- Where it will mount, and whether the VESA pattern matches your screen.
- Whether you need the extra I/O module or storage in the expansion bay.
- Power adapter and cable details in the box.
