The ASUS BE249QFK is a 23.8-inch Full HD monitor with a webcam, a microphone array and stereo speakers built in. It is meant for calls, online classes and streaming, so a desk needs one screen instead of a monitor plus separate camera, microphone and speakers.
Display and panel
The panel is 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) and uses IPS technology, which typically gives wide viewing angles, so colours stay consistent when you sit off to one side or share the screen with a colleague. ASUS lists 99% sRGB coverage, which describes how much of the standard sRGB colour range the screen can show; that is the range most web content and office documents use. The bezels are slim, which ASUS calls frameless.
100Hz refresh rate
The refresh rate is 100Hz, so the screen redraws 100 times per second. Standard office monitors often run at 60Hz. A higher rate generally makes scrolling and moving windows look smoother. It is not a gaming-class figure, but it is a step up for everyday use.
Webcam, microphones and speakers
The integrated webcam is a Full HD (2MP) camera. The microphone array uses several microphones, which typically helps pick up voices from a normal sitting distance. Stereo speakers handle audio output. ASUS positions these for conferencing, online learning and live-streaming. If you already own a preferred headset or camera, the earphone jack lets you use headphones instead.
Connectivity
Inputs are DisplayPort, HDMI and D-sub (VGA), plus audio in and an earphone jack. Having D-sub means older computers and projectors can connect too. Check how the webcam and microphones connect to your computer in the manual, since they usually need a separate data connection from the video input.
Ergonomics and mounting
The stand tilts from +35° to -5°, swivels ±180°, pivots ±90° and adjusts in height by 130 mm. Pivot lets you rotate the screen to portrait, which can suit long documents or code. The monitor is also compatible with a standard 100 x 100 mm VESA mount for walls or monitor arms. ASUS lists Eye Care technology and a three-year warranty; check the terms for your region.
Size
It measures about 21.3 inches wide and 19.4 inches high with the stand, and weighs 11.6 lb (about 5.3 kg).
Who it suits
It suits home offices, shared desks, classrooms, small meeting spaces and anyone who joins calls daily and wants a tidier desk. Those who need a larger screen, or higher resolution for design work, may want a different monitor.
What to check before you buy
- Computer connections: check the video and webcam connections, and any extra cable needed.
- Camera position: the webcam sits in the monitor, so its angle follows the screen.
- Privacy: check the manual for whether the camera has a cover or switch.
- Size: 23.8 inches may be small if you want to run several windows side by side.
- Mounting: confirm that your arm or wall mount uses 100 x 100 mm VESA.
- Software: check which operating systems and conferencing applications the manual supports.
